The CW pairs Supernatural with The Originals spin-off for 2018-2019
The CW schedule for 2018-2019 is out. Wayward Sisters fans have taken to Twitter in disappointment to hear that Supernatural is being paired with a “spin-off of a spin-off.” However, it shows the hope the network has.
The CW was the last of the big five networks to share their 2018-2019 fall schedule. There were a number of big changes, especially since the move to Sundays as part of the primetime lineup. One of the biggest notes for Wayward Sisters fans was where The Originals spin-off, Legacies, was placed. When The CW announced it would follow Supernatural on Thursday nights, many fans of the proposed SPN spin-off viewed it as a kick in the teeth. This was the slot Wayward would have hopefully taken.
Supernatural is keeping its Thursday night 8 p.m. slot. I will say I’m disappointed, but that’s only because I prefer the 9 p.m. slot for the show. It’s hard tuning into the first slot of the night and Thursday is a competitive night with The Big Bang Theory and Grey’s Anatomy, neither of which are moving.

However, The CW has made this decision and sticking with it. It will be followed by the “spin-off of a spin-off,” Legacies. This is The Originals spin-off about Hope Mikaelson that didn’t even have a pilot shot. The network chose the show based on the script for the pilot.
Opting for this position shows The CW’s hope for the series. Thursdays are a tough night (as I mentioned) but the network clearly wants to give this series a chance. The network clearly hopes that those who tune in for the Winchester brothers will stick around for the second hour to see what the new series is all about.

Personally, I can say that I won’t watch Legacies, but that has nothing to do with Wayward Sisters not being picked up. I just don’t like Hope in The Originals and have stopped watching that show because of her. But for those who really like her, this could be the show for you. And, by the way, just because you want to watch it doesn’t mean you’re going against Wayward Sisters for those who feel a little guilty. We can like both!
