It was all about Jake and Amy in the Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 5 finale and in the words of Jake Peralta, it was all, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool.

The Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 5 finale brought us the wedding we have been waiting for. The wedding of Jake Peralta and Amy Santiago. Of course there was just no way this was going to be a normal wedding and sure enough, it wasn’t.

Disaster from the start. The cake hadn’t arrived, the ring bearer woke up with chicken pox and Amy’s veil had something all over it. Jake surprisingly had it all under control.

More from FOX

He sent Terry and Rosa to get the veil dry cleaned. Chickenpox boy was a blessing in disguise because he had a weird-shaped head. Cheddar the dog was then announced as the new ring bearer, to Captain Holt’s delight. Hitchcock and Scully were sent away to find a new band for the wedding. Jake told them their band had canceled but that was a lie, he just wanted them out of the way. That was when the phone rang and Jake was sure it would be the cake guy. It wasn’t. It was someone calling them to let Jake know a bomb had been planted at their wedding.

Teddy’s back

So not a great start to their wedding day. It doesn’t get much better because the bomb squad arrives and Amy’s ex-boyfriend Teddy is back. He is now in charge of the bomb squad, and is still in love with Any and is trying to win her back.

Teddy spends the rest of the day stalling and taking as long as possible trying to convince Amy to call off the wedding and run away with him.

Cheddar’s rehearsal

Back at the precinct, Captain Holt is getting Cheddar ready to walk down the aisle. With the help of Gina, a Captain Holt trots down the “aisle” with Cheddar. It looks weird and Hillarious. Then Holt gets an e-mail he wasn’t expecting. An e-mail telling him if he is the NYPD Commissioner or not.

Rosa and the universe

Rosa and Terry manage to get the wedding veil cleaned without an issue. Their day is going so “breezy” that Terry starts trying to get involved in Rosa’s love life. When the car to pick them up shows up and it’s a hot girl that Rosa likes, Terry can’t help himself but intervene. The universe is pulling them together.y

Or it is until they lose the veil. Its no longer “breezy” and the universe is a dick. They eventually find the veil again but it is covered in dirt and soaked in urine. Terry is not pleased. Rosa is though.

Jake’s archnemesis

Jake decides that the only way to get this wedding back on track is by finding his archnemesis. If he catches him/her then they can learn where the bomb is. Unfortunately, that doesn’t go to plan. Jake doesn’t have an archnemesis. Turns out who he thought it died a long time ago and Jake was probably the reason for that.

It turns out Amy is the one who has the archnemesis. They find a shrine dedicated to her, making Jake super jealous. They take the suspect back to the bomb squad to tell them where the bomb is. He tells them he didn’t plant a bomb. Teddy isn’t listening and it just as well because they really do find a bomb.

This means it’s over for the wedding. The Peralta/Santiago wedding is off.

Where  else but the Nine-Nine

Back at the Nine-Nine, Jake and Amy look over the events of the day. Disaster is a bit of an understatement but that is what it was. It doesn’t put them off wanting to get married however and the two of them agree to head down to city hall tomorrow.

Boyle is having none of it. They are not getting married like that. Needing only 30 minutes, the Boyle makeover treatment turns the Nine-Nine into the perfect wedding venue. It’s wedding time!

The wedding finally happens. Captain Holt officiates with a moving speech about how their immature friendship, went on immature courtship and will no doubt now be an immature marriage. Tears are everywhere, especially Boyle, and the two exchange their beautiful vows.

Amy’s being the most beautiful with; “there is a bomb; your butt, your butt is the bomb!”

The afterparty!

Back at the bar. Holt calls everyone together, he needs to check his e-mail about the commissioner job. Holt has have been scared to open it all day in case all the hard work he has put in has been for nothing. He needs the Nine-Nine with him for support.

They all wait, it’s a tense few seconds. Holt reads the e-mail. Puts the phone back in his pocket. Tells them all they can probably tell by the look on his face.

“No! No, we cant!” screams Jake.

Cuts to black.
