Lucifer fans who have been awaiting God to appear in his son Lucifer Morningstar’s life finally get their wish in a bonus double episode.

Fox will be airing a 2-hour double episode on May 28 with who else but Neil Gaiman as Morningstar’s holy father! Originally intended for the now canceled season 4 of Lucifer, the two bonus episodes, “Boo Normal” and “Once Upon a Time,” will certainly make devoted #SaveLucifer fans.

In “Boo Normal,” the team investigates the murder of a child psychologist, while Ella hides a possible ghostly secret. The previews show Lucifer and detective Dan at an amusement park, which should certainly provide an entertaining backdrop to this episode.

Next, in a fairy tale episode aptly entitled, “Once Upon a Time,” Neil Gaiman, portraying God, narrates an alternative reality for Lucifer Morningstar. Instigated by Luci’s mother, he is now in a world where he never met his beloved detective, Chloe Decker. It is not sure if Luci’s mom and dad battle it out, but it promises to be entertaining!

This episode is directed by Kevin Alejandro, who portrays Dan Espinoza.

Neil Gaiman, who recently appeared on the Big Bang Theory as himself, co-created Lucifer with Sam Kieth for the Sandman series. The recently canceled Fox show Lucifer was developed by Californiacation creator Tom Kapanos.

After the Monday announcement of the bonus double episode of Lucifer, Gaiman revealed on Twitter, to the delight of fans, that he will play God. How appropriate!

"“In which I am God…”"

In character, Tom Ellis retweeted Gaiman, with the words “Or dear old dad depending on who you are.”

What is especially exciting is that it is clear that these are not just a couple of episodes just slapped together to appease the frustrated #SaveLucifer fanbase.

Lucifer co-showrunner Joe Henderson indicated to TVLine that fans are in for a treat, describing the two episodes as “two of our best.”

"“Honestly, they’re two of our best episodes, so… I think the fans will get to see them in some way, I just don’t know when.”"

The episodes were originally filmed for the now canceled season 4 of the wildly entertaining Fox show. The two stand alone episodes were filmed earlier in the spring, when it seemed to all that Lucifer would be back for another season.

Neither episode appears to be a continuation of the final scene of the season 3 finale episode, where Lucifer showed his devil face to a startled Chloe.

After waiting three seasons for Chloe to see the truth, passionate fans want to see what happens next, but the cliffhanger and shocking cancelation by Fox are making the continuation of the Lucifer frustrating.

Although fans were made aware that the two episodes were already in the can, it appears to be a last minute decision by Fox to air them both. This could certainly further energize Lucifer fans who want a streaming service to pick up the show and continue on with the story and characters they so love.
