Up from the ashes of the first season finale, CW’s Dynasty is indeed returning for second season, answering some burning questions.

Although it has barely been two weeks since the shocking season finale of CW’s Dynasty, fans want to know what is next. The cliffhanger that shocked fans showed Blake Carrington (Grant Show), Fallon (Elizabeth Gillies) and Sammy Jo (Rafael de la Fuente) helplessly watching the fire and destruction unfold before them, as each of their loves are are in the midst of the chaos.

Did Michael (Robert Christopher Riley), Cristal (Nathalie Kelley), Alexis (Nicollette Sheridan) and Steven (James MacKay) escape the destruction?

More from CW

This is what we know will happen this season, after the shocking season 1 finale cliffhanger.

Who survived the fire?

Based on James MacKay’s Instagram feed, it should be assumed that Steven is going to return. Yet, the popular Aussie-born actor explained that he has absolutely no idea what will happen to Steven after the season-ending cliffhanger.

Viewers may remember that  moments before his wedding to Sammy Jo, Mrs. Daniels (Kelly Rutherford) cornered Steven and revealed that he will be a father.

This future baby Carrington was the result of an earlier season bargain. Steven asked his former lover a big favor to help Sammy Jo with his immigration papers, in return, she wanted a single tryst, and now Steven is going to be a daddy!

Clearly, MacKay trusts the Dynasty writers to create a dynamite script that will surprise the fans of the CW show.

As of now, there is absolutely no hint on whether Cristol or Michael survive the fire. Neither actor has posted on social media whether they are returning to Dynasty for season 2. We will just have to wait.

Alexis is here to stay

According to TVLine, Alexis Carrington, diabolically portrayed by the former Desperate Housewives star, clearly survived the season 1 finale fire. Not only that, but she has even been promoted to season 2 regular. This is her first regular role since her appearance on the popular ABC show.

Nicollette Sheridan has previously explained the essence of the role that Alexis has in the Carrington family. She hints that is is merely a reflection of the Carrington family, not the instigator.

"“She’s this matriarch of a family that’s cutthroat, crippling and riddled with dirty politics.”"

New CA CEO Fallon has more trouble than ever

At the end of last season, Fallon pushed her dad out of Carrington Atlantic to appease Michael, and got into business with Liam’s (Adam Huber) even worse family to solve the problem her mother instigated.

The CW hints that she is going to spend the second season in conflict. Her business and personal decisions are not going to be in harmony, as she begins to fall in love, presumably with Liam.

With Liam’s cruel family now in the mix, this should also bring in even more characters to the show, which should be very fun for Dynasty fans.

Who is playing Kirby?

The reunion of Anders (Alan Dale) and Kirby was part of the cliffhanger. Who is going to play the meaty part of the woman who is both vindictive and jealous of Fallon?

There have been a lot of possible names being thrown around for the Josh Schwartz /Stephanie Savage production, such as Rachel Bilson and Leighton Meester, either who could both be fantastic in this role. But, Bilson is already starring in the upcoming ABC show, Take Two, which promises to fill the Castle void.

Meanwhile, Meester is also going to star in the new ABC comedy, Single Parents.

Josh Schwartz likes to use a lot of the same actors he has previously worked with. Who could be a good fit for the role of the troublemaker Kirby? Fans will have to wait til the show returns to find out, and see if they bring in an actress from one of his previous shows.

Blake’s sister Dominique Deveraux will appear

The CW has already hinted that the arrival of Blake’s step-sister, Dominique Deveraux, will cause an even bigger rift between the Carringtons and their cousins, the Colbys. As of now, there has no actress cast for the role of Jeff (Sam Adegoke) and Monica Colby’s (Wakeema Hollis) mother, but it will certainly be someone who is ready to cause some havoc into the lives of their newly discovered Carrington cousins.

There is no official word when Dynasty is returning for season 2. It could be assumed that it will start in October, when the other CW shows start their new seasons.

More mysteries to solve

We cannot forget Claudia (Brianna Brown) and Hank/fake Adam (Brent Antonello) took off in a hot wired car at the end of the cliffhanger. The combined knowledge of this unlikely couple could easily help take down the Carringtons.

Lastly, will the Carringtons ever find the real Adam? Certainly the Dynasty CW writers have that surprise in the works. Hopefully, it is not Liam!
