In Season 13 of Supernatural, we met Jack. While at first, we weren’t sure if we would like him, he quickly became a fan favorite. Which is why he’s our #ManCrushMonday this week.

When at the end of Supernatural Season 12 decided to introduce Lucifer’s son, Jack, everyone spent the summer speculating. Would he be good? Would he be evil? Are we even going to like his character?! When the show returned in the fall, we got our answer: he’s amazing.

Jack quickly rose in the ranks to become equally loved as part of Team Freewill 2.0. We learned that he’s caring and thoughtful, and nothing like his biological father. Let’s take this opportunity to see why he qualifies as our #MCM this week.

Cares about others

More from Supernatural

Right off the bat, we see that Jack truly cares about other people. He’s concerned about who he’s hurt. He immediately bonds with Sam and Dean and they become his family. When he sees that Cas’ absence has really affected Sam and Dean, he (albeit unknowingly) fixes it. He goes out of his way to try and solve the problem that Mary is missing by trying to figure out how to use his powers to reopen a rift.

Yes, he gets stuck in Apocalypse World, however, he does end up protecting Mary and she ends up coming home in the end. Even while he’s in Apocalypse World, he takes on the responsibility to protect the rebels. And he takes each loss personally, even though he’s not at fault.

So innocent

Jack is brand new in the world, and he’s so, so innocent. The first several episodes we get to watch Sam introducing him to everything in the world. And it’s so sweet to see the interactions between the two men. The wide-eyed innocence of Jack is refreshing to see. It’s been a long time since we’ve had someone innocent and learning about the world on the show.  Not since Castiel at least. And it’s pretty funny when Lucifer just has to promise Jack a lightsaber in order to join him. Since Jack looks like an adult, it’s easy to forget that he’s technically only about a year old by the end of Season 13.

Works hard

When Jack was born, he really didn’t have a good grasp on his powers. They were always going haywire and he really didn’t have a grasp on what he could do. While Sam tried to train him into learning his powers, it wasn’t until Jack had a chance to explore them on his own that he got a true sense of what his powers were. Frustrated, he went out on his own, and he didn’t come back until he knew how to control his powers. And learn about the scope of his powers. He doesn’t give up once he puts his mind to something.

Human qualities

One of the best things about Jack is that he has human qualities. He’s an all-powerful nephilim. He is the son of Lucifer. But, he’s amazingly human. He has all the feelings a human has, and most importantly he has empathy. He can relate to what others are feeling, and he recognizes his role in causing some of these emotions. These human-like qualities will really come in handy going into next season since Jack has lost his grace.  He’ll have no problem assimilating himself even further into his adopted family as they help him cope with the loss of his powers.
