Klaroline has been the relationship many of have wanted to see work out on The Originals final season. Candice King has opened up about it and it’s not all good news.

It turns out that Candice King isn’t rooting for Klaroline. Just how do we take that when we’ve rooted for Klaroline throughout The Originals? This is a relationship we rooted for way back in The Vampire Diaries Season 4 when Klaus promised to be “her last” love. Considering both are vampires that does suggest that somewhere in the centuries there’s a chance, but is there when King isn’t rooting for the relationship herself?

This has always been a requested end-game from so many fans, and while King isn’t rooting for the relationship, she loves that there is a dedicated base for it. There was hope in The Originals Season 5 premiere when Caroline came to Klaus when he was in need. In fact, Hayley knew to call for Caroline because she can make him see sense. In the end, she had to go back for her daughters in Mystic Falls, but she left the door open for Klaus to call.

According to King, we should be happy with The Originals series finale. It looks like Klaroline’s love story is going to come to a close, but it’s no clear if that’s for a good or bad reason. Will we have to say a permanent goodbye to Klaus?

After all, Legacies has been picked up by The CW, which will be a spin-off of The Originals. Centered around Hope Mikaelson and the Saltzman Gemini twins, there’s been little to no mention of Klaus. This suggests that the series finale will either see him needing to take off and never see his daughter again or killed–possibly sacrificing himself to save his daughter. With his sire line destroyed, there’s no need for us to worry about the deaths of all vampires connected to him (such as Caroline). This would be the only way it’s acceptable to completely close off the chance of Klaroline happening, right?

There was at least a moment in Episode 6. When looking for Hope, the two have a chance to discuss the need for some girls to go after the bad boys, which definitely brings up Caroline’s feelings for Klaus, although it seems like those feelings are both in the past for the two of them. Maybe this was the Klaroline moment in The Originals final season getting us ready for no happy ending for the two of them.
