Bob’s Burgers has aired consistently at 7:30 until now. With the recent cancellation of another show, it moved up an hour and possibly for the better.

Bob’s Burgers has changed and evolved over the years. One consistent element has been the show’s time slot. It has aired on Fox at 7:30/6:30c for years until now. On the show’s official Twitter, they shared the show would be moving to the 8:30/7:30c time slot.

It’s not a huge change, but still worth noting. Changing time slots can either spell success or disaster. For most shows, it’s a means of trying to get rid of them faster but it doesn’t ring true for Bob’s Burgers. In honor of the change, let’s look at the main reason why it happened and how it could benefit the show.

More from FOX

It’s time to get the elephant out of the room. The show is taking over Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s old time slot. After 5 seasons at Fox, it was canceled before being picked up by NBC. In a way, it’s bittersweet especially for fans of B99.

Sadly, it was at the expense of another great show. Even so, it could end up being for the better. Fox had run its course with Brooklyn Nine-Nine and NBC will give it a respectful send-off. As for Bob’s Burgers, it raises questions about what the network’s future plans are.

Unlike its previous time-slot, Bob’s Burgers is now a prime-time show. It’s strange to imagine as the show already has an immense following. Apparently, Fox thought differently and thus the show was moved. It’s still kind of baffling as the show did significantly well at its 7:30 time slot.

When the show aired at 7:30, it was the lead-in for Fox’s other animated shows. Here, it’s smack-dab in the middle of them. Bob’s Burgers has now landed between The Simpsons and Family Guy. Both are huge vehicles for Fox so adding Bob’s between them is a calculated move.

With a movie on the way, it was only a matter of time before Fox made changes. It’s a smart move, but bittersweet. The show has been at the 8:30 time slot before but it’s still going to be a change. It’s obvious Fox is trying to get more viewers, but Bob’s Burgers is different than the other two shows.

Even so, I’m sad to see Bob’s Burgers moved but happy since it has a bigger chance of success. As the most underrated of the three animated shows, Bob’s Burgers deserves to be in the spotlight. Hopefully, everyone else feels the same way, too!
