After looking at seasons 1 and 2 of Bob’s Burgers, it’s time to look at season 3 as it was the first season to kickstart what the show has become.

Sundays just aren’t the same with the Belchers. Despite that, each week gets us closer and closer to the fall premiere. Until then, it’s time for us to look back on previous seasons and this week is a big one. Season 3 was a huge season for Bob’s Burgers and there’s a lot to talk about!

Each Sunday, I’ll discuss a season, talk about what made the season stand out, some memorable episodes and if I consider it a favorite. As per usual, I’d love to hear feedback from fellow Bob’s Burgers fans including your thoughts on the season, your favorite episode from each season and general thoughts.

This week is an exciting week as we’re talking about season 3. Season 3 has so many firsts and a lot of cool elements to discuss. Most notably, season 3 is the first season to get a “standard” episode order. What that means is the season got more episodes and is similar to future episode orders.

Additionally, season 3 was the first season to feature holiday episodes. The show premiered their first Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine’s Day episodes. This created a blueprint of what we’d get from other seasons. It also featured a plethora of guest stars, songs and character-centric episodes.

In many ways, season 3 set the tone for the series. It brought music to the forefront, figured out its humor and crafted the perfect blend between sitcom, family drama and animated comedy. Season 3’s impact is huge for Bob’s Burgers as it truly began the show as we know it today. Can you tell I thoroughly enjoy season 3?

Moving onto memorable episodes, there’s a lot of them. Since there are more episodes to choose from, it’s going to be hard to narrow them down. The season premiere, “Ear-sy Rider” was a great start to the season and gave us a better idea of Louise as a character. It also introduced us to Logan, a future frenemy of the Belcher family.

This is where it gets tricky because the holiday episodes are extremely memorable so it’s hard to pick just one. The most memorable has to be “An Indecent Thanksgiving Proposal.” It was the first Thanksgiving episode and gave us some insight into Bob’s love for it. It also featured an awesome parody and song, too.

The last two episodes are memorable for vastly different reasons. “O.T.: The Outside Toilet” is one of many Gene-centric episodes but make him the hero. Usually, he’s overshadowed by the other characters but he takes center stage here. The toilet is also voiced by Jon Hamm so there’s that.

The last memorable episode is “Lindapendent Woman.” This is the first episode where we truly see Bob and Linda have a disagreement. They prove their strength as a couple by coming together at the end. It’s an interesting early milestone of their relationship and this episode features an awesome song. We’re also introduced to Josh, Tina’s future love interest.

As mentioned above, season 3 was truly the start of Bob’s Burgers as a series. They found their footing and it shows throughout the season. Even though it was just the start, it created the mold for the show’s future success.
