It’s time for the Winchesters to go to Sin City, but not the Sin City you know. With demons out, Supernatural Season 3, Episode 4 sees Elizabethville, Ohio full of sin and corruption.

Sam has a case for him and his brother in Elizabethville, Ohio. There have been two unusual deaths and plenty of demonic omens, so it’s off to the new Sin City in Supernatural Season 3, Episode 4. Bobby stays behind to work on the colt, leading to a run-in with Ruby.

The case of the week

When the Winchesters pose as insurance agents, they learn that one of the deaths was a suicide. However, Father Gil does share that the townspeople have started partying and gambling in a way never before. Back at the motel, Dean runs into Richie, a hunter he’s worked with before. It doesn’t take long for Richie to meet Casey, the bartender, who takes him home to where she stays with her parents. While there, she kills him.

There’s at least one demon in the town and Sam is sure that it’s Trotter, the loan shark and mob boss in the town. However, it’s not him and it doesn’t take long for Dean to figure out that it’s Casey. However, the two are trapped in the basement when Casey causes a cave-in, so the two can just chat about Azazel’s plans for the future and what has happened now that Azazel has been killed. She also tells Dean that there’s a bigger game plan here: bring back Lucifer.

During this time, Casey gains some respect for Dean after everything he has gone to save his brother and the sacrifice he’s made.

Sam and Father Gil manage to find Dean and Casey, only to learn that Father Gil is also possessed by a demon. Casey doesn’t want Father Gil to kill Dean, but he’s going to anyway. Just as he’s about to, Sam kills him and Casey with the newly refurbished colt. There’s a look in his eyes that Dean worries about.

Bobby gets unexpected help

Ruby turns up at Bobby’s offering help to get the colt working again. Looking back, this was clearly a way to gain their trust. If she looked like she was interested in killing demons, the Winchesters would tell her things and she’d be able to get Sam on her side. Of course, things never quite went to plan for her in Supernatural Season 3, but it was a good plan and started to work.

It was because of Ruby that Sam got a working colt again, just in time. Ruby also clearly left some instructions, as they’ve been able to make bullets for the colt since–it will be interesting to know if there’s someone out there who can fix the colt now!

In the end, Dean tells Bobby everything that Azazel had said about Sam. Seeing Sam kill Father Gil and Casey makes Dean worried. What if Sam came back differently? There doesn’t seem too much of a reason to worry, as Sam tells Ruby that he’s upset that he killed two people in the process of killing the demons. However, he does threaten to kill Ruby, until she reminds him that she can help with Dean’s deal.
