Now that Chloe knows that Lucifer really is the devil, the romance will bloom, right? Tom Ellis spoke about Lucifer at SDCC and hinted what is next for Deckerstar.

Tom Ellis was on the TV Guide Fan Favorites panel and had plenty of exciting predictions about Chloe and Lucifer post devil face reveal. Speaking to TVLine, he was clearly excited about returning to his role as Lucifer Morningstar and relishing the new plot twists now that Chloe knows.

He was asked if the bonus episode “Boo Normal” give hints on the Deckerstar relationship? What is obvious is that the two are still working together. In addition, Chloe hints to Ella that she had seen some unusual things in her life, so Ella’s ghost was not usual to her.

The episode was meant to be part of season 4, but as the show was canceled by Fox, they decided to air the two standalone episodes.

Tom Ellis did explain that odd thing about being at San Diego Comic Con this year is that he cannot discuss any story lines. It was not because they were top secret, but it is because he has not seen any scripts.

Although Tom doesn’t know what exactly will happen, he does say that they will get “straight back into it” after Chloe sees his devil face. What he does know is what will be the interesting part of season 4 is that the devil face revelation is going to be an “impact on both of the characters”

For anyone who wonders whether Lucifer knows that Chloe sees his devil face, Tom confirms that Lucifer was unaware he had the devil face when Chloe sees him. When they were filming the scene, they played around with that moment and they wanted to make sure it was done right. They felt it was more impactful for him not to know he has his devil face.

Tom also confirms that we believe that Chloe and Lucifer love each other, but told Entertainment Weekly that it is not going to be happily ever after for the couple now, and explained why.

"“I think it’s the heartbeat of the show, Chloe and Lucifer’s relationship. It wouldn’t be very wise to get these two characters together now… When you get the characters together, ultimately that’s kind of resolution. And you don’t want resolution till the very, very end.”"

Yet, he did confirm that when the time is right, “I am all for it.”

What about changes now that they are on Netflix? Tom explained that they don’t want to “mess around too much with that” but promises that they may “explore the mythology” more than before. This could mean possibly mean that there will be less about the police procedural which could make a lot of fans happy.

According to Ellis, the only real change is that there will only be 10 episodes for the season and he believes it is for the better. He revealed that when you do 22 episodes you have to “stretch things and you can dilute the story.” He further explained that during a longer season “some episodes move the story forward some do not.” His belief is that there will be more “continuity” with a 10-episode season.

As for other, more risqué changes, Ellis joked that showrunner Joe Henderson is determined that they will finally show Tom’s bare butt in season 4, which was something that could not do on Fox. Ellis appears to relish the idea of showing his bare posterior to the world for season 4 of Lucifer now that they can do so on Netflix.

The always charming Lucifer star explained that he was “representing” at Comic Con. Other cast members were not present for their own panel as in other years because Lucifer was just picked up by Netflix last month. When he was asked how he found out that the show was saved, Ellis admitted that he was elated when he got the call to “sharpen your horns.”

When the show was canceled, Ellis discovered that the fan support was an “overwhelming experience,” but he did know the show was growing and was doing well elsewhere in the world.

Although there was not a Lucifer panel at SDCC this year, Lucifer’s wings made an appearance  for all attendees to take photos. This was a thank you to all of the fans who worked so hard to save this fantastic show. Wow!

Tom Ellis also mentioned that the show is not going to start filming until August 13. If the show is not filming until August 13, when is Lucifer season 4 going to start?

Lucifer season 4 will be air in 2019, but Netflix has yet to release a date when the 10 episodes will drop.
