Robert Singer interview: Teases for Supernatural Season 14 and why Michael!Dean now?
It’s time for the executive producers to have their say about what to expect in Supernatural Season 14. Robert Singer shares a couple of teases of what’s to come, as well as why the Michael!Dean story came up now.
Every season, the show’s writers have a fun cliffhanger to solve. When they create the cliffhanger, they have no idea what they’re going to do with it the next season. That’s to come during the summer break. And that’s just one little tidbit Robert Singer shared during his roundtable interview with the press, including FanSided’s Entertainment Director, Cody Schultz, at SDCC 2018.
Singer doesn’t give much in the way of things to come for Supernatural Season 14. There are a couple of teases, but he does share why the Michael/Lucifer/Dean/Sam storyline came up again now.
As with all the interviews, there are spoilers for Supernatural Season 14 in this. Let’s find out what Robert Singer has to say.

As you can see, it’s all about the smaller picture. If you love the emotional episodes (they’re the ones that really push character development in my opinion) then you’re going to enjoy the 14th season by the sounds of things. This is going to be a smaller scale story, focusing on personal development. We’ll get to see more from Jack, as he deals with being human, and how Dean and Sam will react once Dean is saved from Michael. Well, Singer says that Dean may be saved, but we know it has to happen!
What about the character named after him? Well, Bobby is back (as well as Charlie), and there is going to be more development between Bobby and Mary. Now we just have to think of a ship name I think. Are we going with Bary or Mobby? I think I like Mobby better.
If you’ve ever wondered about the development of the stories, you’ll want to check out the last question from the Robert Singer interview. He shares when the writers come up with the stories and how they decided it was time to bring back that apocalypse storyline from Supernatural Season 5. Considering the storylines in Season 13, I’m not surprised at the “spoiler” Singer had to share about the writing.
There’s also a sweet moment about Singer working with the cast of Supernatural and how easy they are all to work with. It really is a family behind the scenes.
