6 Characters we hope to see in Better Call Saul season 4
Better Call Saul season 4 premieres tonight and we hope it kicks off with some Breaking Bad character cameos!
Besides the addictive storylines and brilliant performances, Better Call Saul has become fertile ground for learning more about so many of Breaking Bad’s most notorious characters. So far, everyone from Tuco (Raymond Cruz) to Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) have appeared in key roles in Better Call Saul’s first three seasons, which begs the question: Who will we see this year?
Before diving in, yes, everybody’s wondering if (or when) Walt (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse (Aaron Paul) will appear. And while co-creator Vince Gilligan sounds open to the idea, he’s made it clear that neither one will be showing up in the next 10 episodes.
What we do know is that we’ll be meeting Lalo, a character referred to by Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) during his first ever appearance, but has never been seen. So, before Better Call Saul season four premieres tonight on AMC, who else from the Breaking Bad rogues’ gallery could pop up?
Bogdan
As Walt’s former boss, Bogdan (Marius Stan) is pretty closely tied to Breaking Bad’s protagonist. But as a car wash owner, it doesn’t seem out of the question he could show up. After all, people need to keep their cars clean. Maybe not so much Jimmy’s rustbucket with the mismatched door, but Gus is pretty meticulous, and his reliable blue Volvo is always so sparkling. Maybe after driving back from a dust-and-blood-covered skirmish — like the one that’s hinted at in the season four trailer — he realizes he needs a quick wash and coat of wax before heading back to tend to business at Pollos Hermanos. It could happen.
Kuby
The notoriously smooth-talking fixer, Kuby (Bill Burr) seemed to have a pretty solid rapport with Saul Goodman by the time he talks Bogdan into selling his car wash, and with this season bleeding into the Breaking Bad timeline, he seems like a shoe-in for at least one cameo. After all, when you employ people to do things that aren’t exactly legal, it takes time to foster some real trust. Plus, the fact that he’s an ex-cop makes for some potentially interesting back-and-forth with Mike, a former officer of the law himself.

Spooge
Aside from robbing Skinny Pete (Charles Baker) at knifepoint with his unnamed wife, Spooge’s (David Ury) main contribution to the Breaking Bad universe was getting his head crushed by a stolen ATM. Jesse (briefly) ends up with the reputation as a badass, but Saul eventually reveals that he knows the truth, which was that Spooge’s unnamed wife killed him. How did he find out? Spooge, it turns out, was his client.
While it’s unlikely he’ll be doing anything Earth-shattering, it’d be fun to see how many of Saul’s loyal clients first found him when he was still known as Jimmy McGill.
Gale Boetticher
Now that Hector Salamanca (Mark Margolis) has suffered from a stroke, the inner-workings of the cartel are in for a possible shake-up. Not to mention that we saw Gus looking at the industrial laundry with Lydia (Laura Fraser) last season. So, it makes sense that Gale (David Costabile), the good-natured Libertarian/chemist, will be around at some point. Especially knowing that Gale was the guy who set up Gus’s superlab in the first place.
Ed
When the chips were down for any of Saul’s clients in Breaking Bad, he was ready with a nuclear option: disappear completely and start a new life somewhere else. To accomplish this goal, he’d call on Ed (Robert Forster), a vacuum repairman who had a pretty lucrative side hustle making dangerous people disappear into anonymity. It’s because of Ed that Saul’s forced to live the rest of his life as Gene, the lowly Cinnabon manager in Omaha.
Given the handful of characters in Better Call Saul that aren’t mentioned anywhere on Breaking Bad, is it possible we’ll see Ed work his magic and make, say, Nacho (Michael Mando) disappear?
That DEA Agent with the sweet mustache
While it’s possible that Hank (Dean Norris) and/or Gomey (Steven Michael Quezada) could show up, especially if there’s a lot of disarray in the wake of Hector’s stroke. But really I just want to see that guy and his heroic facial hair on the small screen once again. If you’ve never noticed him before, click here to see what he looks like. Now, go back and watch almost any scene that takes place inside the DEA offices, and you won’t be able to miss him.
Better Call Saul’s fourth season premieres tonight on AMC.
