Did Shadowhunters set photos reveal a Malec wedding?

Did the cast of Shadowhunters reveal on social media that the #Malec Wedding is happening in the season 3B finale?! Here’s why some fans are convinced Alec and Magnus will be together at the altar:

The past few weeks have been emotional for the Shadowhunters cast, crew and fans, as filming wrapped for Shadowhunters: The Final Hunt on set in Toronto. With live videos, cast photos, BTS posts, and sentimental thank yous, the cast brought fans along for the journey on the last few days of filming.

We were crying. You were crying. Everyone was crying.

Of course there were some minor leaked spoilers, as it’s impossible to hide everything when you’re posting photos of certain actors together on set and specific characters in unexpected locations, but, there were a few signs that “Shadowhunters detective fans” found as evidence of a Malec Wedding. (And yes, I’m writing Malec Wedding as a proper noun because it feels like the right thing to do at this point).

During the last few days of filming, Emeraude Toubia posted this group picture from set in Toronto, and talks of a Malec Wedding immediately started popping up on social media. The biggest clue? A very small detail on Matthew Daddario’s left hand.

Do you see the ring? Everyone in the photo is still in costume, and while it’s possible Daddario is just wearing real wedding ring or a decorative costume ring (influenced by Magnus, perhaps?), for many fans, this was a solid piece of evidence that a Malec Wedding and/or proposal is happening in Shadowhunters: The Final Hunt.

Two days later, Emeraude posted a video of the season 3B wrap and fans were quick to notice characters in formal attire. Looking just at the guys, Dominic Sherwood and Alberto Rosende are both in dark suits, but Matthew Daddario is wearing a tuxedo, leading fans to believe that he was part of a wedding.

Harry Shum Jr. doesn’t seem to be wearing a tuxedo, but Magnus Bane also doesn’t really follow anyone else’s wardrobe guidelines, and it’s difficult to tell if he’s also dressed more formally than others around him (more than usual anyway). Watch the emotional video below to see for yourself:

It also crossed our minds that Alec could just be looking extra fancy for a family member or friend’s wedding ceremony, but none of the women in the video are wearing wedding dresses, and we don’t spy any other men in tuxedos.

But if the wardrobe and ring aren’t enough evidence to prove that a wedding is happening, the decor on the walls should sway your opinion just a bit more. Fans noticed that in several photos posted that day, the official Shadowhunter marriage rune was displayed on the walls.

The show has always been careful to use the correct runes for characters, events and ceremonies, and we don’t think the placement of this marriage wedding rune is a coincidence or a mistake.
