Judd Lormand has been promoted to series regular for SEAL Team Season 2. That means more Lt. Commander Blackburn, which is definitely awesome news.

CBS has confirmed that Judd Lormand will be a series regular on SEAL Team Season 2. We’ll be seeing more of Lt. Commander Blackburn, who was already in all 22 episodes of the first season. It does seem a little odd that he wasn’t already a series regular.

The decision to promote the actor couldn’t be better. Blackburn was the understanding and caring officer in charge. While we wanted others come in without any understanding or care for the men on the ground, Blackburn would always put his men first. He would also fight for the mission and the civilians, while some of the Higher-Ups would put politics first.

Blackburn gained the utmost respect during the first season. He opted to go on a mission with his men, showing that he was more than just a man in the command center. This was an officer willing to put his own life on the line for that of his men and what he believed was right, adding another layer of depth to the character.

There are plenty of potential storylines for Blackburn running into SEAL Team Season 2. Lisa is now looking at officer training, so the most likely of stories is for him to offer her pointers and support. This could lead to more support from the other SEALs, as he reminds them there are good officers out there.

Of course, we need to see more of Blackburn in action. There’s a chance for him to get out on more missions when the going gets tough and become a more integral to the overall storylines. Plus, this is a chance to learn more about his backstory, which will likely have plenty to cover.
