The Big Bang Theory Season 12 will serve as final season: Show ending May 2019
The time has come. The Big Bang Theory Season 12 will be the last, wrapping the series in May 2019.
Despite CBS previously discussing continuing the show for at least another year after this one, The Big Bang Theory Season 12 is going to be the end. This isn’t overly surprising news considering earlier this year Johnny Galecki had mentioned that the 12th season seemed like a good time to end. The actors want to move onto other projects.
The great news is the writers have time to plan for this. With the series ending in May 2019, according to a report from Deadline, we know we’ll get a full season of laughs, jokes, and geekiness. Plus, it will be a final year to offer closure for the fans.

Of course, there are big questions as to where this could go. I always thought the end would be with Sheldon and Amy’s wedding. Maybe the end will finally see Raj get a girl after so many years of trying? This is a character who has come a long way since the start when he couldn’t even talk to girls at all!

The Big Bang Theory is CBS’ highest-rated comedies and has been a staple on Thursday nights for a very long time. It’s going to be hard to find a show to replace that, so it isn’t surprising CBS wanted it to go on as long as possible. Why mess with a good thing, right? However, the actors had decided it’s time to move on.
Just last year, there were pay increases and decreases. The main stars, Galecki, Jim Parsons, and Kaley Cuoco took pay cuts to allow for their co-stars Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik to receive pay rises. The show was also renewed for two seasons together and there were chances this would happen again this year if the actors wanted it.
The Big Bang Theory Season 12 will become the final season. By the end of the run, it will have 279 episodes, making it the longest-running multi-camera series in history. The season will premiere on Sept. 24, despite no Thursday Night Football on CBS this year. That same week, the show will air an encore of its premiere on Sept. 28 and then air Thursdays at 8/7c.
