Netflix has closed a deal with C.S. Lewis to allow them to develop a new TV series and movies for The Chronicles of Narnia universe.

Deadline is reporting that the streaming giant has announced today a multi-year deal with C.S. Lewis so they can develop a new TV series along with movies for The Chronicles of Narnia universe. The Lion, the Witch, the Wardrobe was the first fantasy novel written by C.S. Lewis for children followed by seven fantasy novels. The first novel sold over 100 million copies.

As you all know, it’s set in the fictional word of Narnia. I’ve only seen the first movie. Shame on me? I’m not sure, as I do have to admit that I lost interest watching the movie a bit before it ended. However, seeing Edmund go to the wardrobe and entering Narnia was something awesome to see.

In one side, you’re at home. The second you go through the wardrobe, you’re in another world. Also, The White Witch was creepy to me when I was young. It just made me scared of her.

More from Netflix

Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer, Netflix said in a statement:

"“C.S. Lewis’ beloved Chronicles of Narnia stories have resonated with generations of readers around the world,” said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer, Netflix. “Families have fallen in love with characters like Aslan and the entire world of Narnia, and we’re thrilled to be their home for years to come.”"

Douglas Gresham, stepson of C.S. Lewis said in a statement:

"“It is wonderful to know that folks from all over are looking forward to seeing more of Narnia, and that the advances in production and distribution technology have made it possible for us to make Narnian adventures come to life all over the world,” said Douglas Gresham, stepson of C.S. Lewis. “Netflix seems to be the very best medium with which to achieve this aim, and I am looking forward to working with them towards this goal.”"

This will be interesting for both Netflix and Amazon. Amazon ordered The Wheel of Time and The Lord of The Rings as a TV Series, and Netflix has now signed a deal for new movies and TV Series for The Chronicles of Narnia. It’s going to be exciting for all the audiences who love fantasy.
