During NYCC 2018, Madeleine Mantock took the time to talk about her character Macy in the Charmed reboot. Find out all she has to say and what to expect.

Macy is one of the three sisters in the Charmed reboot, debuting on The CW tomorrow night. British actress Madeleine Mantock has taken on the role, and during NYCC 2018, she discussed what fans can expect from the character and the series.

All three sisters learn they’re witches in the pilot episode of the series. How will Macy react considering she’s a scientist with a logical and “brilliant” mind, as Madeleine describes it? It turns out that Macy will want to figure out where these powers come from. She needs to understand more about the science behind the fantasy, which is something the original series never touched on.

As many who have followed the Charmed reboot know, Macy is a half-sister and didn’t grow up with Maggie and Mel. However, it turns out she’s not adopted, which has been the general assumption among the press and the fans. During the series, we’ll learn how she became separated from her family and how she’ll react to learning that she has two half-sisters.

One of the big focuses on The CW’s Charmed is that it’s a diverse cast. All the lead women are women of color, which has been a progressive and important point for many. Madeleine explains that it’s important for her, too. This was one of the reasons she wanted the role, and you can hear the full explanation in the video below.

There has certainly been some hate towards the Charmed reboot even before people even had a chance to look at the trailer. At both SDCC and NYCC, con attendees have had a chance to see the pilot and a lot of response has been positive. This is certainly a darker version of the original and is going to appeal to both new and veteran fans, as long as people just give it a chance.

No, not everyone is going to like it but that’s the case with every single show on TV right now. I’ll be the first to say I’m not a fan of Riverdale, but I understand why people love it. That was a show that just never really connected with me. But I went into the show with an open mind and gave it a chance like I’ll give the Charmed reboot a chance.
