Wayward Sisters is officially happening. It’s just not in the form of a TV show. Kim Rhodes and Briana Buckmaster are bringing you the Wayward Sisters Podcast.

When Wayward Sisters wasn’t picked up by The CW, many of us were upset and angry. I still believe the network dropped the ball on this one, but I’m happy to see that the fight isn’t over. Wayward Sisters is still officially happening but it’s not going to be in the way we thought it would be.

Kim Rhodes and Briana Buckmaster are bringing the Wayward Sisters Podcast and they don’t want you to be a fan of it but a “fellow.” This isn’t about Supernatural or what the spin-off series could have been. It’s just about two women going through life–and the two women many people desperately wanted the spin-off to be focused on.

The podcast is more than the TV show ever could be and fans shouldn’t see it as a consolation prize. It’s an awesome move that has been inspired by the TV show hope (and the fanbase that was there long before the spin-off was even announced back in 2017). After all, Wayward Sisters started as Wayward Daughters.

This podcast is run by Rhodes and Buckmaster themselves. There may be technical hitches along the way and issues with scheduling, but they’re learning as they do it. Having them running the show completely adds more of the personal touch. This is their thing and they’re going to own it.

More from Supernatural

Recording the episodes has already begun. The Wayward Sisters Podcast isn’t going to be about the show. It’s about important topics that make you think. Some of the topics will include what it’s like to be a mom or what it’s like to be pretty. And, no, it’s not all about perfection but about the reality of those topics.

If you’ve seen the two post on Twitter, you’ll get an idea of what they’re bringing to the market. As much as I’m not a fan of the word “empowering,” that’s the word that I have to use to describe this podcast.

That being said, there will be some Supernatural connections. The actors from the show will guest star now and again, in a similar way to Rhodes and Buckmaster guest starring on the series. We’ll have some male-focused topics that push for equality and understanding.

The episodes will be 20 minutes or less, because the aim was to bring episodes that people could listen to on the commute to work or while getting ready for the school run. They will also be released weekly, very much like the Wayward Sisters episodes would have been.

If you want to keep the Wayward movement pushing forward, this is definitely the way to do it, right?
