Supernatural Season 14: Is the spear too obvious of a choice to get rid of Michael?

Supernatural Season 14, Episode 3 indicated the way the Winchesters could get rid of Michael. Is this just too obvious for the storyline?

When the Winchesters found Kaia, they also learned that Michael is scared of her spear. Supernatural Season 14, Episode 3 gave the hunters an instant way to kill Michael, but is that really going to the method they use?

Quite honestly, it seems a little too obvious now. After just three episodes, we’ve suddenly got a way to kill Michael, after years of being told that only the archangel blade could do it. Sure, they’ve not faced something quite like Bad Place Kaia before, but that doesn’t mean they should get a way to kill the Big Bad of the season so easily.

I do wonder if this is going to be some sort of red herring. Maybe Michael actually manages to get his hands on the spear first. He knows that it can kill him and he’ll want to make sure his enemies can’t get their hands on it. It’s possible that the spear is one option for the Winchesters but won’t be able to be used because Michael grabs it first.

There’s also the possibility that the spear wouldn’t actually work. Michael is always one step ahead. Could he gather enough witches to arrange for his own protection spell, something that would protect him from the spear’s abilities? This could certainly shock the Winchesters when they realize their curren option doesn’t work.

Of course, with Bad Place Kaia still in possession of it and unwilling to give it up, there’s a chance this could eventually be used. The question will be how the Winchesters get their hands on it. But right now, the option is too obvious and a little too convenient.

Plus, we know that the Cosmic Entity comes up again in Supernatural Season 14. This could mean the Winchesters figure another way to stop Michael. Why not head to the Empty to get Gabriel to help? Archangel + archangel blade = death of another archangel.
