Charmed Season 1, Episode 4 introduced the Elders, gave us a little more mystery to Harry, and saw the sisters save an innocent. Here are my favorite and least favorite moments from the episode.

Charmed Season 1, Episode 4, titled “Exorcise Your Demons,” gave us our first look at the Elders. Meanwhile, an innocent was saved but at the cost of another life. Here’s a look at what happened and my favorite moments from the episode, along with the ones that I hated.

One thing I’ll say is that I hated the way the episode ended. The Vera/Vaughn sisters needed to save Angela Wu, who had been possessed by the Harbinger of Hell. To cut to the chase, the Elders originally believed that Angela’s soul wasn’t in there. Once Mel confirmed it was, the three sisters got to work on exorcising the demon, thanks to some help from the Book of Shadows.

Angela was saved, but another character paid a price. Charity the Elder managed to cover up magic, but at the price of an innocent person. And that leads us into my favorite moments and the moments that I downright hated.

First, the worst moments.

I loved that Charmed brought an essence of the original series by having Nico and her partner showing back up at the sisters’ house. Magic and police business mix. I know many have likened Nico to Andy from the first season of Classic Charmed, so her partner became Darryl.

Well, I’m glad I didn’t get to know the name of the partner. When he saw the sisters exorcise the demon in the end, he was accidentally killed in the stormy shuffle. Charity used him to help cover up the murders of multiple people on Halloween and prevented an investigation into his death.

And this is where I hated the outcome. Charity had made the detective’s death look like a suicide. We learn at the very end that there was evidence left to connect the detective to the murders. All blame would fall on him and the sisters and magic would be protected.

Thankfully, Mel feels awful about this and I’ll get to that very soon.
