The Supernatural fandom is split with Sam!Girls and Dean!Girls. Are you a Sam!Girl? Here are the top signs that you definitely and proud of it.

As “The Monster at the End of This Book” reminds us all the time, there are Sam!Girls and Dean!Girls in Supernatural. Chances are you’re one or the other and there’s definitely nothing wrong with that. To celebrate the second day of Sam-mas, it’s time to look at the signs that you’re a Sam!Girl and most definitely proud.

Let me just say that this isn’t to be divisive. There’s nothing wrong with loving one brother more than the other. There are personality traits that pull us in and elements that we connect with. I’ll admit that I’m a Dean!Girl but over recent years, I’ve gained a whole new appreciation for Sammy.

So, with that in mind, here’s a look at the signs you’re a Sam!Girl and proud. Do you meet these points?

1. You crave for more development on Sam

More from Supernatural

Sammy has not had enough character development over the years. When you look at some of the most memorable episodes, they tend to be Dean-heavy. Even the seasons that are supposed to have plenty of Sam development, you see there’s so much focused on Dean.

Supernatural Season 4 was all about breaking the seals and getting Dean to play his part in Heaven’s part of the apocalypse. When it came to Sam, he was manipulated by Ruby and found himself alternating between drinking demon blood and trying not to drink it.

Season 14 is finally giving us more development. We’re seeing all that potential and you’re craving for more. You don’t care about Dean’s storylines that much. You just want to see more of Sammy on your screen to get that much-needed development.

2. Your favorite lines are always Sam lines

Take a look at the lines that stand out the most from the various episodes. Personally, I try to look for standout lines from both episodes but it’s not always easy. As a Dean!Girl, I’m more drawn to Dean’s lines. But as a Sam!Girl, you know you’re drawn to Sam’s lines.

You memorize everything he says. You can recite them all back as they play out on the screen. In fact, you don’t need the sound on or captions up to follow Sam’s story because you know it all by heart.

And even the common season-long gags like “So get this” and “According to the lore” are some of your favorite lines. They mean the world to you and you won’t let anyone tell you they’re lame.

3. You just want to give him a big hug

Sam has been given a raw deal when it comes to relationships and storylines. He’s gone through depressive moments and struggled with demon blood addiction. We’ve seen him fight off evil and struggle with the things that have happened to him in the past.

To get away from it all, he did something completely out of character in Supernatural Season 8. Rather than search for his brother, he searched for a normal life. It was a clear sign that something was wrong with him mentally but he wouldn’t talk about it.

Now you just want to give him a big hug. Nope, you definitely don’t want to be with him because you know that means you’ll die (all women connected to Sam romantically end up dying, right?) but you do want to make sure he knows he’s loved.

4. You’ll watch every single fan video about him

What’s your YouTube history looking like? I know when it comes to Supernatural fan videos mine involve Dean. As a Sam!Girl, you’ll be the complete opposite. Every video you’ve watched will feature Sam in some way.

Whether Sam is the villain of the story, the love interest, or it’s just about all the brotherly moments, it’s Sam that you watch it for. Some of them will be crossover videos with other shows (Sam and The Vampire Diaries‘ Caroline tend to be popular) and others will be wholly Supernatural. Either way, they’re all focused on the younger Winchester brother.

And they don’t even need to be fan videos. Sometimes you’ll watch convention moments and official trailers. If they have a focus on Jared Padalecki or Sammy, you’re happy to watch.

5. You’ve got into the lore because of him

What’s your favorite part of Supernatural? I know the brotherly moments are favorites for many and others love the action. But as a Sam!Girl, you’ve possibly fallen in love with the lore. After all, this is what Sam’s interest is.

He loves delving into what the monster could possibly be. He’ll be surrounded by books, papers, and computer pages. He’ll always bring up the lore and help defeat a creature because of it. Sometimes he needs help, but more often than not, he’s the one to figure everything out.

Hey, he’s even taken chances based on his thoughts. Remember the time he sent Dean to the sacred ground where the church once stood to get rid of the possessed truck?

Because of Sam’s love for lore and serial killers (yes, even serial killers), you’ve got into all this. I guarantee that there’s is absolutely nothing wrong with this. You should be proud!

6. Fanfictions are always Sam based

Whether you just read them or write them, the fanfictions will always be Sam focused. You want him to be a lead character in the story. In fact, sometimes he’s the only lead character.

All those stories that put Sam off to the side to focus on Dean, Castiel, Charlie, Bobby, or any other character don’t pull you in. You need something that focuses on Sammy and his character development. And it doesn’t always matter who he’s with or what the focus of the story is.

Sometimes, you’ll see him deal with his connection to Lucifer. There are times you’ll focus on his unspoken bond with Gabriel. And then there are the stories where you see him live his life without Dean, before the series began or when Dean was in Hell or in Purgatory.

7. You have a love/hate relationship with Gabriel

The final sign you’re a Sam!Girl is that love/hate relationship you have with Gabriel. You want to like him, but you find it difficult because of everything that the archangel has done. After all, it’s always been aimed at Sammy.

One of the worst was in “Mystery Spot.” Sam relived that Tuesday over and over again. It was meant to be a lesson in that Dean couldn’t be saved, but it never felt like that. It was torture for Sam. He had to go through the grief of losing his brother more than a hundred times. You could see how much it weighed on him.

Then there was the time when Gabriel put the brothers into the TV world. This does have a little more humor, but it was still an attack on the brothers and Sammy often got the short stick. It’s hard to like Gabriel all the time when you know what he’s done to Sammy.
