Before we get into the new episodes, let’s take a quick look back at Supernatural Season 14, Episode 7. Just what were the best lines from the episode?

While we’re all getting ready for Episode 8 in a few hours, there’s still time to take a look back. Supernatural Season 14, Episode 7 was an excellent episode, bringing a mixture of drama, emotion, and comedy.

The final look back for the week is all about the best lines. And yes, I know there’s one that stands out for everyone. There are many more, though. Here are my five favorites from “Unhuman Nature.” Do your favorites make the list?

I’ll admit that none of these lines come from Sam or Dean this week. However, they were both part of conversations.

He was stabbed through the heart, and he exploded.

I believe that this will be the line that people expect to see on this list. It was one of those moments that made many laugh out loud, after all. As Dean is floundering for a cause of death for Lucifer, Castiel just comes out with the straight honest truth. Well, sort of. Lucifer didn’t exactly explode.

However, the line is accompanied with a lot of looks. Confusion from the nurse and questioning/concerning looks from Dean and Sam. Castiel risked a lot but it was clear nobody was ever going to take Cass seriously in that moments.

I’m Jack. And I know people have a lot of strong feelings about my father, but I’m — I’m trying hard not to be like him.

There’s a bit of a continuity error with Rowena not realizing that Jack is Lucifer’s son when she’d already known about him in Season 13, but that’s not important here. What is important is Jack’s comment about trying hard not to be like Lucifer. That’s something he’s done since we met him and this is just adorable.

It’s the moment Rowena wants to help him. But the line is more than that. Why is something so bad happening to someone so sweet and good?

Well, if it’s grace he needs, he can have mine.

Castiel to the rescue. There is no question about giving up his grace for Jack. He’ll do anything to help keep Jack alive, knowing that he can at least live without his grace. Castiel is willing to become human for Jack and it’s an honorable and emotional sacrifice.

It’s not something that will work, as Rowena explains. That adds more to the line because Castiel didn’t even realize this when he offered.

I’m getting that life isn’t all these big, amazing moments. It’s time together that matters. Like this.

Jack understands the true meaning of life. We can see all these amazing things around the world. When you hear of anyone who is dying, they tend to have a bucket list of the things they want to do. But you know what, I don’t think I’d regret not seeing the Taj Mahal when on my death bed.

I’ve seen monuments and experienced once-in-a-lifetime moments. Yeah, they’re great at the time but on my death bed, it’s going to be the little moments with the family that count the most. And our one-year-old Jack has been the one to remind everyone of that.

You did more for him than any of us.

And in the end, Castiel realizes that Jack knew the true meaning of life. If he was going to die, he was going to do it after making some memories. Jack wanted to live his life and by Dean going with him, Jack got to have that moment fishing and drinking beer.

While Dean feels bad for the joyride, Castiel makes it clear that it’s exactly what Jack needed at the time. What was the point in sitting in the bunker and twiddling their thumbs?
