When will The Gifted return in 2019?
The Gifted is taking a short break to recharge some batteries. When will the mutants be back on our screens? When will The Gifted return in 2019?
Fans of The Gifted will be wondering what’s going on. The series didn’t air this week again. Well, it’s not a weird week off. The show aired its fall finale last Tuesday and is now on a mini winter hiatus. That’s not going to last long, though. When is The Gifted back in 2019?
FOX has had its midseason schedule out for a while now. Something that I never picked up on right away was a slight change to Tuesday nights. The Gifted will return on Jan. 1, 2019, which matches a similar return to last year. However, there’s going to be a slight change to the time.

The Gifted and Lethal Weapon are switching over timeslots. Instead of tuning in at 8 p.m., you can wait an hour. The procedural based on the movie franchise is getting the earlier slot instead.
This is good news for a few reasons. The Tuesday 8 p.m. slot is a tough one to crack. I’d said early on that it was a bad idea to put The Gifted here, up against NCIS and (Roseanne at the time) The Conners. Plus, superhero fans had to choose between the X-men series and the DC series, The Flash, on The CW.
Now, it’s going up against the likes of This Is Us, FBI, and The CW’s Roswell, New Mexico. It’s still a tough spot but it is a better one.

The new timeslot is also going to be better for the brewing war. The Purifiers will take to torturing Thunderbird, Lauren may be going Dark Side (sorry, wrong universe), and Polaris may go against the Inner Circle to create the right mutant homeland for her daughter.
