The Last Kingdom officially renewed for Season 4 by Netflix

2018 couldn’t end any better for fans of The Last Kingdom. Uhtred, Son of Uhtred, will be back as The Last Kingdom Season 4 is officially a go.

The Last Kingdom is undeniably one of, if not the best TV show to arrive in 2018. Fans of the Bernard Cornwell series will be pleased to hear that The Last Kingdom Season 4 is officially happening. Uhtred, Son of Uhtred, will be back once again. Will this be the season where he wins back Bebbanburg?

The amazing news was announced today, Dec. 21, via the official The Last Kingdom official Twitter account, telling all that the had some very exciting news to bring everyone some festive cheer. And festive cheers is certainly what fans got with the renewal announcement.

The series only dropped Season 3 on Netflix in November so renewal notice wasn’t expected until around January or February 2019. Surefire evidence of how successful the series has become., but we didn’t need to be reminded of the success right? Remember how crazy we went not knowing if the third season was happening?

When the show will come back is now the big question a lot of fans will want to know. Fans went just short of 17 months between the Season 2 finale and Season 3 premiere. In between that time the show also went from being a BBC/Netflix series to a pure Netflix Original, so this change in network rights may have caused a delay in filming.

Obviously the sooner the better. Season 3 had a huge amount of shocking moments throughout it. And while some questions were addressed in the season some have been left for open-ended for Season 4. And I for one can’t wait to see what happens.

So let’s get on it Netflix. Let’s get filming and bring out The Last Kingdom Season 4 as soon as possible.
