Good Trouble is just around the corner! Here’s what we’re most looking forward to from Season 1.

I think I can speak on behalf of The Fosters fanbase when I say, finally! After Freeform announced that they canceled The Fosters, many fans were furious. The show had diversity, covered LGBTQ storylines, pregnancy, and much more. It’s a series we really needed to stay on the air.

The good news, though, was that the network ordered a spin-off, Good Trouble. The upcoming show will follow the lives of Maia Mitchell (Callie) and Cierra Ramirez (Mariana) heading into adulthood. Freeform released a press release of the first four episode titles and the descriptions, and boy do they sound great.

1. Jude is back

Yes, it’s great to see one of the original cast members from The Fosters already returning in the first season of Good Trouble. While some fans may think it’s a way for the network and producers to draw viewers in, I feel the producers and writers wouldn’t just throw Jude back in for the sake of it. Jude appears in the second episode, titled “The Coterie”, and he joins the party that the residents of the Coterie are hosting. Once again, he is seen drinking in the trailer. He doesn’t let his drinking habits go.

Also, Callie and Mariana live near Jude, so Los Angeles to San Diego is not much of a stretch. Also, executive producer Joanna Johnson told TV Line back in August 2018 that “We want to see them all this season, for sure, as long as they’re willing to come [the original characters].”

2. Callie is back in the dating game

We may see Callie, and Jamie Hunter start dating as it hints that she reaches out to an old friend for some legal advice. She hasn’t dated in a while as she’s been so busy with her job. Jamie appeared in the three-part series finale of The Fosters as it was Brandon and Eliza’s engagement party. Jamie and Callie were flirting until both of their families arrived in Turks & Caicos for Brandon and Eliza’s wedding. That’s when they had their first kiss.

What makes this creepy is that Jamie is Eliza’s brother, so that is rather disturbing if Callie and Jamie start dating as they’re now a family.

As we all know, Callie is a clerk for Judge Wilson and Jamie is a lawyer with a firm in LA. So Callie and Jamie are close to each other now when Callie used to live in San Diego.

I still wish Callie and Brandon were in it for the long-run. Am I a hypocrite? No, as Callie and Brandon aren’t related so they could still date.

3. Both Callie and Mariana are struggling with their jobs

Mariana doesn’t want to make up a lie that her job is a female-friendly, diverse environment when it’s the complete opposite. She’s a feminist, and this obviously doesn’t sit well with her. Her co-workers tell her that if she comes off as too ambitious, she may rub people off the wrong way. Poor Mariana ends up breaking down in a bathroom afterward. At least, that’s what we see in the trailer. We know how she strives to give it her all as we saw how she was in STEM class and robotics in The Fosters.

For Callie – We all know how she is empathic, and she’s always there for everyone but herself. This makes it extremely difficult for her as the judge she works for as a clerk, doesn’t allow empathy to change his judgment. Judge Wilson tells Callie that he has no use for clerks who have empathy. It makes me wonder how both Callie and Mariana will handle their jobs as the season goes by.

4. Guy trouble?

Callie says in the trailer that she never wants a guy to go between her and Mariana. When both Callie and Mariana are vulnerable, especially when both girls are struggling at work, they may get seduced by the same guy. I can’t imagine how ugly that will turn out. Callie and Mariana are in this together, they live in the same apartment, and they were taught wonderfully by Stef and Lena. If they do make mistakes, let’s hope they learn from them. I can imagine that will be a lesson as The Fosters was great with lessons.

Speaking of Stef and Lena, they will appear this season, so they’ll most likely give their girls encouragement and words of wisdom. After all, Callie and Mariana are Stef and Lena’s daughters. Yes, daughters, I don’t think of them as adopted.

5. Callie worried about losing her job

As we see in the trailer, Callie says she has to be careful about who she’s seen partying with. For all we know there may be some enemies of Callie that are around there that want her gone from working with them. If they spot her partying, all it takes is for them to take out their phones and take pictures and send it to Human Resources.

Or Jamie may spot Callie being seduced by someone because she’s drunk and he would be furious about that and ends up getting her fired. Either that or he could blackmail her so he can get what he wants from her. So far, judging from the trailer, Callie has a one-night stand with her neighbor, Gael. Will they actually pursue each other? That remains to be seen.

All we know is that Callie can’t afford to lose a job. She’s helping Mariana pay rent, so if Callie gets fired, boy are they in huge trouble. Would Stef and Lena save them? That would make for an interesting storyline.
