Batwoman has officially got a pilot order from The CW. The latest Arrowverse series will also have a Supernatural connection, as David Nutter will direct the pilot.

David Nutter will direct the Batwoman pilot, which was ordered today by The CW. While many now will recognize him as the man behind Game of Thrones‘ most shocking episode, “The Rains of Castamere,” he has a Supernatural connection.

As well as Eric Kripke’s mind, Jensen Ackles’ and Jared Padalecki’s acting and chemistry, and the standout writing, Supernatural‘s successful start is partially thanks to Nutter. Known as The Pilot Whisperer, Nutter directed the pilot episode of the series. And you know that this is one of those episodes you adore.

He returned for the second episode, too, which explains why the two episodes have such similar feelings in terms of camera angles, lighting choices, and more. Unfortunately, he hasn’t directed another episode since, but he will remain a crucial part of the SPN Family.

Supernatural wasn’t the first pilot he had success with. He came off Smallville‘s pilot and has been the man behind Arrow‘s, The Flash‘s and many more shows’ starts. With all the success, it’s easy to see why he’s known as The Pilot Whisperer.

Batwoman continues The CW’s push into focusing on more female-focused shows. And while we’re still sad that Wayward Sisters didn’t take off, many of the actresses are moving onto other projects and callings and we do now have The Wayward Podcast.

By the way, if you want to see Nutter back in action, he’s directed three of the upcoming episodes of Game of Thrones Season 8.
