The Walking Dead reportedly renewed for Season 10: When will it be official?

The Walking Dead is reportedly renewed for a 10th season. Should be official soon enough considering we’re approaching the Season 9 renewal announcement anniversary.
The Walking Dead franchise continues to steamroll forward with spin-off shows and now a newly announced three movie deal where Rick Grimes continues his story. TWD fandom is booming in north Georgia as fans make way to the filming location to take a tour of areas that weren’t ever opened to the public.
That said would it really surprise you that Season 10 could be moving forward? According to Spoiler TV, a renewal would happen. The Whisperers will be introduced in the latter half of Season 9 come next month, but you can’t help but wonder if they’ll carry over into Season 10.

Although this isn’t official, Spoiler TV did say they’ll update their site accordingly. It wouldn’t surprise me though as its now coming up on the anniversary date of the announcement of the Season 9 renewal on Jan. 13, 2018. So one could pretty much deduce it’ll be made official soon.
There’s also the question of whether or not Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, will be making her return. Showrunner Angela Kang said she’s hopeful per an interview via Fan Fest last year. Angela says she’s been in touch with Cohan.
"“We will hopefully come back to Maggie’s story in Season 10. Lauren and I have been texting about some things, and we’re hopefully gonna schedule a conversation, but Georgie’s group is definitely out there in world doing some stuff, and I have some notion of what they’re up to. They may also be part of the universe in general. That’s really up to Scott, but we’ll see how it all plays out.”"
One can’t help but to think what Georgie, played by House of Cards’ Jayne Atkinson, is up to with her community. From her meeting with Maggie, it seems they have their community up to snuff. All that they ask is an exchange of knowledge for some vinyls. With the kind of manual she provided for sustainable living, one can only wonder how well off Georgie’s community is doing. They could be living the peaceful life, away from the Negans and Whisperers of the post-apocalyptic world.
The Walking Dead show was mentioned by EP David Alpert to make it to Season 20, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Robert Kirkman talked about the show speeding up and slowing down when it comes to running in pace with the comics. Alpert said by season 20, that he’ll “think we’ll be caught up”.
