Supernatural Season 15 canceled or renewed: CW decides fate on longest-running drama

The CW announced 10 of its shows have been renewed. Is Supernatural Season 15 happening? C’mon, did you really think it wouldn’t?

During The CW’s TCA announcements, it announced 10 shows that have been picked up for new seasons. Supernatural was on the list, landing a 15th season. Did you really think it was going to be canceled just like that?

The news comes with almost all the network’s shows that weren’t on final season orders being renewed. All American, Roswell, New Mexico, and The 100 are the only shows with fates in the air, while Jane the Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and iZombie were already renewed for final seasons back in May.

That means freshman shows Charmed and Legacies have scored second seasons, all Arrowverse shows have been renewed, and Dynasty has surprisingly landed a third season. However, there’s still a way to go for any of the shows to take over as the longest-running drama on the network.

While announcing the renewal, there were no plans for this being a final season. If The CW had any plans on canceling SPN sometime down the line, we’d surely get a final season warning. Of course, this news could come at a later date as contracts are discussed.

What’s also not announced is the length of the season. Season 14 is the show’s shortest season outside of the year the writer’s strike took place. The show’s stars understandably want to spend more time with their families and were hoping that the shorter season would work for everyone involved.

Has it worked well enough that Season 15 will be 20 episodes? Will we have fewer episodes? That’s something we’ll have to wait to find out.

For now, we’ll take the good news that we have. Supernatural Season 15 is officially happening. So, what will the cliffhanger be in April?
