The last episode of The Goldbergs took a turn into the world of sports with Adam paying tribute to his favorite sports film, Major League. In the episode, Barry had to come to terms with the fact he needed glasses and once he did, he was able to still pitch well enough to just hit people with the baseball. So, it was mostly a success. That said, Barry was able to learn how Adam felt when getting picked on for wearing glasses.

This week the show will have a Valentines special and it should get pretty interesting because it involves Beverly. According to the synopsis, Adam and Murray will have a Valentine’s gift face-off over who can give the best gift to Momma Beverly to avoid going to dinner with her. It seems like for different reasons, they are trying to avoid going on a Valentine’s date with her.

With Lainey’s departure during The Wedding Singer episode, the Ericas will have to find a new band member. Problem is, it sounds like they pick a guy who is trying to steal Erica Goldberg from Geoff–and Barry is not okay with the new band member doing this.

"With Geoff’s help, Erica and Valley Erica find a new band member to replace Lainey, but Barry convinces Geoff the new band member is trying to steal Erica from him. Meanwhile, Adam and Murray try to out-gift each other so that neither of them has to go to Valentine’s Day dinner with Beverly."

The preview below shows the start of the Adam and Murray face-off as Beverly wants someone to be her “Valentine Pickle.” It’s clear that Adam is frustrated because he wants to go on a date with Jackie and not on an awkward date with his mother. Check out the footage:
