The series focused on urban development and politics, with how the two connect. However, it wasn’t about the actual plot lines. This was about the relationship between the characters and the growing development over the years.

Why we loved it: One of the things the Parks and Recreation team did right was listen to the audience. The series became part of NBC’s popular Thursday night comedy block and that’s because the writers developed the characters based on audience reaction. You have to admit that we loved it because we were listened to!

In the first season, Leslie Knope was a little to ditzy for the role she had in the office. However, that changed from the second season, bringing us a character we could fall in love with.

Each of the characters got development. We saw relationships blossom and each of the characters had real elements to their personalities. Plus, we got some of the best gal pals ever on TV.
