Heaven crumbling was a storyline introduced in Supernatural Season 13. With a lack of focus on it during Season 14, will it now be pushed to Supernatural Season 15?

Supernatural Season 13 introduced the idea of Heaven crumbling. However, after Castiel went back, the writers never had time to solve the issue and it was left to this season to rectify. That’s not happened, with the only time Heaven being brought up in Episode 8 and the situation was conveniently overshadowed. With so few episodes left, will the storyline be pushed to Supernatural Season 15?

It certainly seems possible. Andrew Dabb already hinted that other storylines could be pushed. The benefit of getting an early renewal is that the writers were still working on the last episodes. They now had the opportunity to let storylines breathe, pushing some of the storylines to the next season instead.

That’s going to be the case for Castiel and the Empty, by the sounds of things. Could it now be the case for the Heaven storyline?

Looking at the potential titles for the upcoming episodes of Season 14, there’s only one that could hint that Heaven is the bigger storyline of the episode. Episode 18 may be titled “Absence.” While that could be linked to Michael leaving Dean or Dean being taken away after Michael gains control, it could also be linked to the absence of God in Heaven.

Isn’t it about time that God returns? Or isn’t it about time he at least makes another archangel to keep Heaven in order?

Alternatively, it could be linked to something Michael said to Castiel in Episode 10. Michael shared that he realized God created draft worlds and then abandoned them when they didn’t turn out as he wished. The titled could be linked to that instead of Heaven.

If that’s the case, then the Heaven storyline would make more sense being pushed to Supernatural Season 15. There are just seven episodes left and that isn’t a lot of time to have too many monster-of-the-week episodes. If there are standalone episodes, fans are going to want more focus on the Winchester brothers dealing with a case together instead of too much focus on a part of the universe they’re just not interested in (and we have no sympathy for the angels, right?).

Getting the early renewal certainly makes it possible for the writers to push the Heaven storyline a little longer. Hey, maybe the finale could end with Heaven being destroyed because of the death of more angels.
