Is it time for Heaven to crumble on Supernatural?

There are hints that Heaven will crumble in the Supernatural Season 13 finale. Is it time for this to happen to teach the angels a lesson?

For years, we’ve watched the angels act all mightier than thou on Supernatural. Because of their power, they’ve viewed themselves as better than everything in the universe. While there has been the odd angel (like Castiel) who has put humans first, the majority of them act in selfish ways and taken unnecessary action against the Winchesters and other humans on Earth.

Now angels are becoming extinct. Naomi wants Castiel’s help to get Gabriel back into Heaven to power it up again to avoid it crumbling. However, is it time the angels learned their lessons? Should Heaven crumble so they finally learn some humility and (ironically) grace?

What about all the souls?

More from Supernatural

I would say yes if it wasn’t for the fact that the souls in Heaven would fall onto Earth. The souls don’t deserve to be released from their Heavens for the sake of teaching the angels a lesson. They don’t deserve to find themselves lost in the ghostly plane, trying to figure out what to do next.

Plus, think of the issue that would case the Winchesters when they get back to their own world. Of course, it would be Sam and Dean left to pick up the mess that’s left behind. At least, that’s the likelihood depending on whatever is going to happen to Dean in the Supernatural Season 13 finale. There are going to be many spirits that turn vengeful through no fault of their own.

Gabriel has a chance to make a change

The real benefit of this whole situation is for the angels to learn they need to change. Gabriel has a chance to become the leader in Heaven. He has the chance to make up for his mistakes and help create a change in the balance and the way the angels act. This is his chance to really prove that he wants to become a better angel and not the “screw up” he views himself as.

Rather than seeing Heaven crumble on Supernatural, maybe we should start seeing a change happen. This could be Heaven’s chance to put the humans first and do everything that God initially wanted for his creations. After working with Castiel and the Winchesters, Gabriel will be in the perfect position to understand more about humanity and the things that these “lesser beings” on Earth does. He’ll understand more about humility, bravery, and kindness in a way that angels have never really had the chance to learn.

So, no, as much as I feel nothing for the angels, Heaven shouldn’t crumble on Supernatural. It wouldn’t be fair on the souls in Heaven. This is the chance for the angels to learn and adapt, and a time for us to see a new side of Gabriel we never thought we’d get the chance to see.
