Dean and Sam heading back in time in Supernatural Season 5, Episode 13 to save their parents. What were the best lines from the episode?

In Supernatural Season 5, Episode 13, we watched the Winchester brothers head to the past. Dean had already seen his parents once but now it was time for both brothers to meet them. At the same time, it was time for truths to be revealed.

This was an intriguing, plot-heavy episode. Just what were the best five lines from “The Song Remains the Same?”

Maybe you’re not working for Heaven. But there’s something you’re not telling me.

Castiel manages to figure out that Anna doesn’t want Dean just to hook up or get help from. She has a mission on her mind. One thing I’d be interested in is what Anna’s plan was exactly had Dean showed up. Or did she always figure that Castiel would work things out?

That’s by the by. In this moment, Castiel shows just how smart he is. It’s sometimes easy to forget this when it comes to pop culture references, but he’s a soldier and that’s not something we should forget!

We oughta stick around here, buy some stock in Microsoft.

While in the past, Dean has one of the smartest ideas in the world: Get Microsoft stock. Considering he’s the one who is always looking for a quick buck, it’s not surprising that he thinks of this. It’s perfectly in his character and I love that he knows enough about technology to know that Microsoft is the one to buy into.

Plus, wouldn’t we all think this if we headed to the past? I sure would!

W—oh. Yeah, yeah. Um, I’m just, um — You are so beautiful.

It’s amazing that Sam can be so centered and focused during a hunt but put something he never expects to see in front of him and he struggles. He’s like a young boy at this moment and it’s just so adorable. All he can do is stare at his mom in awe.

Dean manages to help him out of this sticky situation. However, it certainly reminds me of the blabbering mess he was when talking to Madison back in Supernatural Season 2 or talking to Sarah in Season 1.

Shut up, all of you! Look, not another word, or so help me, I will turn this car around!

John Winchester is everything you would expect from a father at this moment, making this line stand out. He’d just learned about hunting and monsters and he doesn’t know how to take it. He just can’t think about it.

The follow-up lines certainly added to this moment. Who didn’t think it was the awkward family road trip that Dean and Sam got the sense of?

Team Free Will. One ex-blood junkie, one dropout with six bucks to his name, and Mr. Comatose over there. It’s awesome.

This was the moment that Team Free Will became a thing. It’s certainly moved on since Supernatural Season 5, but it still stands for the same thing. Dean refused to say yes to Michael. He wouldn’t let it happen, believing that nothing was pre-written in stone.

However, he certainly has quite a team to work with. He has nothing good to say about any of them in this trio to fight against the angels, demons, and everything else in between. At least there were a few better things to be said for Team Free Will 2.0.
