It’s time for things to come to a head in Supernatural Season 14, Episode 14. Does Dean find a way to deal with the Michael problem and what does Jack do to Rowena? Here’s what happened in Ouroboros.

The Supernatural episode opens with Noah in someone’s home, cooking their flesh and talking to his pet snake, Felix. He gets a vision of the Winchesters showing up, so gets out of dodge. This clearly isn’t the first time this has happened, with the Winchesters, Castiel, Jack, and Rowena noting that this is the sixth victim in New Mexico.

Dean is sure they’re dealing with a witch. The victims are always unbound and never fight back. Rowena rolls her eyes at the idea of witches, noting that the victim has blackened lips. “Everything means something,” she tells Jack.

Speaking of Jack, he’s not doing so hot. He’s coughing and uses his soul-sucking magic to heal his throat. This cannot be a long-term solution. And neither can keeping Michael in Dean’s head. These are two things Rowena is “curious” about.

Figuring out the monster

Castiel notes that the ritualistic killings note that it must be religious. Whether it’s a monster or human, Jack makes it clear that anyone who could do something like this has to be a monster. Oh, he’s a Winchester alright!

Sam and Rowena work out that they’re dealing with a Gorgon, which looks very much like Medusa. The Medusa legend is “overexaggerated” according to Rowena. Instead of turning people to stone, the venom has paralyzing qualities, which explains why people don’t fight back and the blackened lips.

So far, there have been 17 deaths. And how has the monster been getting away with it? Well, through the consumption of human eyes! Those eyes help him see the future.

Finding the secret to attack

When Noah attacks a trucker, he leaves a note for Dean. This note gives the Winchesters a clue on how to sneak up on Noah. While Noah can see Dean, Sam, and Rowena, he can’t see angels or half-angels.

Rowena wants to make an antidote to the venom, and that means a trip to the vet to get some anti-venom. To do that, Rowena needs to turn Jack into a dog so he can then sneak in and grab the anti-venom, giving Rowena a chance to feel the soul-sucking magic pushing back and now she’s worried.

The plan works in a way. However, Noah is too powerful and paralyzes Castiel and knocks Dean out. There is a mention of him wondering whether Jack is a chicken or a snake (is he good or evil) before Jack slices Noah’s head off.

With half the Supernatural episode left and the monster gone, it’s clear there’s another issue and the slithering Felix that everyone ignores (although Jack decides to keep) to try to wake Dean up may be the clue. Jack offers to help but Castiel doesn’t want him burning off more of his soul. Poor Jack has to learn that part of growing up is losing people we love.

Dean wakes with bad news

When Dean wakes, he’s angry and agitated. “Where is he?” he shouts and it turns out that Michael is gone and he hasn’t taken over Dean’s body. Out in the bunker somewhere, the hunters from the Apocalypse World are killed off one by one.

Michael has managed to take over Rowena. Why would Rowena say yes?

While searching books for information, Rowena senses something. It turns out it’s her subconscious. Michael promises to keep her alive as long as she says yes. Of course, Rowena knows that only Sam will kill her, so Michael warns her that he’ll kill everyone in the bunker that she cares about and leave her alive. She feels like she has no choice to protect Dean, Sam, Jack, and Rowena.

Of course, Michael never has any intention of keeping his promise. And as Michael!Rowena attacks Dean, Sam, and Castiel, Jack realizes he has no choice but to protect those he loves.

Jack takes down Michael!Rowena

In a battle between Michael and Jack, Jack has the chance to use his full powers. He expels Michael from Rowena and destroys the archangel, taking in Michael’s grace. And with that, Jack makes it clear that “I’m me again” and shows off his wings.

Of course, that leaves plenty of questions. Is Apocalypse Michael really destroyed? Is Jack really himself? Is he the chicken or the snake?
