It’s off to a quiet town for Sam and Castiel on Supernatural Season 14, Episode 15. Meanwhile, Dean and Jack have a case of their own. Here are the top takeaways from the promo and synopsis.

Have you managed to get your thoughts in order after that shocking ending to Supernatural Season 14, Episode 14? No? Neither have I. And if you haven’t watched the episode yet, don’t worry at all because i’m not going to spoil it.

Nope, next week’s episode looks like it has nothing to do with the main storyline after that shocking ending. You can feel free to read the synopsis and watch the trailer for “Peace of Mind” without feeling like you’re going to ruin anything.

Here they are so I can break them down. From this point, there are teases of what’s to come but I’ll keep all mentions of the “Ouroboros” out. If you’re still scared of spoilers then I’d suggest just avoiding to be safe.

"Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Castiel (Misha Collins) follow a case to a picturesque little town in Arkansas, only to find out nothing is as idyllic as it appears to be. Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Jack (Alexander Calvert) take a road trip to visit an old friend. The episode was directed by Phil Sgriccia and written by Meghan Fitzmartin and Steve Yockey with teleplay by Meghan Fitzmartin."

Now you’ve watched it, let’s get into the breakdown.

5. Monster-of-the-week episode again

More from Supernatural

It looks like after that plot-heavy episode, we’re getting one with a monster-of-the-week focus. At least, the trailer make it look like half the episode will be about the monster-of-the-week. There isn’t much of Dean and Jack’s storyline to see if there’s going to be a bigger part to that episode.

Monster-of-the-week is often a good change of pace. It’ll be needed after the events in “Ouroboros” and it will be good to see Castiel and Sam work together. Their bond has certainly grown this season.

4. Back in time?

Does it feel like the two are heading to the past? At first glance, it certainly looks like they’re being thrown into the 1950s. From the clothing to the attitudes, this is going to be a weird episode to watch.

The synopsis doesn’t tell us about time travel so it looks like it must be the case of the week. What’s the monster doing and why does everyone feel like a version of 1950s America?

3. Castiel still has no tact

Ah, Castiel never fails to make us laugh. As he plays an FBI agent, he and Sam decide to question someone at a diner. He wants to know if they knew the victim and even offers a detailed explanation of their death.

“His head exploded,” Castiel explains but he doesn’t quite stop there. I’ll let you watch the trailer again for the laugh-out-loud moment. The best bit is the way the waitress and the diner owner just stare at him with Sam just looking away. I’m intrigued at whether that was ad-libbed.

2. Dean and Jack on the road

It’s time for a road trip for Dean and Jack. The two working a case together is always good. They’ve got a bond that nobody else does with Jack trying so hard to be liked by Dean — and Dean clearly loving this guy as his own son. So, expect a few father-son like moments between them.

They’re off to see an old friend. It’s no clear who that old friend is with the promo, but it looks like there’s a case while they’re there!

1. Castiel spends his time reading the Saturday Evening Post

Castiel must struggle with life in the bunker. Since he doesn’t sleep, it means he’s left trying to bide his time while the others do — with that in mind, he should have known Dean doesn’t sleep much!

He spends his time reading the Saturday Evening Post sometimes. Well, it’s one way to waste the hours but will this be important to the story or just a little tidbit into the life of the angel?
