15 former The Walking Dead stars: Where are they now?
By Sandy C.
Jon Bernthal – Shane
Even after so many years, Jon Bernthal’s Shane continues to be an all-time The Walking Dead favorite. If we’re being honest, Shane would have done a way better job than Rick. He would not have taken any BS from Negan, for example. Well, if he were alive long enough to face Negan, that is, because Shane was a bit destructive. Okay, fine, maybe he wouldn’t have done as well as Rick.

Not only is Jon Bernthal a favorite, but he’s arguably the most successful former The Walking Dead star on the list. For starters, Bernthal starred on Daredevil as Frank Castle aka The Punisher, before getting his own spin-off, The Punisher. The series has been cancelled, but not due to lack of interest, but thanks to the Disney and Netflix contract.
Still, Bernthal has many projects coming up, including Stingray, Snow Ponies, and an Accountant sequel.
Laurie Holden – Andrea
Like Lori, Laurie Holden’s Andrea was irritating to many, particularly during her final episodes. Holden pushed the hate aside, though, and went on to star in many TV shows. Some of her appearances include Chicago Fire, The Americans, and most recently on Proven Innocent.
Chad L. Coleman – Tyrese
Tyrese may not have been as tough on the AMC series as he was in the books. Though he did have his brief moments of rage, Tyrese was a big softie and we loved him for it. After his time on The Walking Dead, Chad L. Coleman appeared on Freakish and Arrow. He is also a longtime star in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Currently, Coleman portrays Klyden in The Orville.
Michael Rooker – Merle
Jon Bernthal isn’t the only former TWD star who joined the Marvel family. After Rooker’s character, Merle, was killed off, Rooker joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Yondu and starred in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 and then Vol. 2. Up next, catch Rooker in A Good Man Is Hard to Find.
Scott Wilson – Hershel
Hershel was such a kind soul who only wanted spaghetti Tuesdays every Wednesday. He was the father of The Walking Dead and we miss him dearly. It doesn’t help that actor Scott Wilson passed away last October, 2018. Before passing, he starred in The OA as Abel Johnson.
