The Resident: Top 7 moments from Season 2, Episode 18
By Mads Lennon
Julian returns and Chastain recovers from QuoVadis. Let’s take a look at the top seven moments from the new episode of The Resident.
Everyone needs an emergency contact in their life. This week’s episode of The Resident explores who each character reaches out to when the going gets tough.
7. We meet the father of Nic and Jessie.
I can’t tell you how many times I said the name “Kevin Nevin” in my head during this episode before I realized the man’s name was Kyle. We’re introduced to the infamous Kyle, a man who has never been an active part of his daughter’s life unless he had an ulterior motive. What better time to swoop under the guise of caring for Jessie’s rehabilitation when in reality, Kyle wants to sweet talk Marshall into funding a new app project he’s had in mind.
Nic makes it clear Kyle isn’t welcome in her life if he’s only here for a cash grab. His motives are murky at best. Once he sees Jessie on an IV drip, it seems he has a change of heart. Until Nic tells him the damage to her kidneys could be from experimental drugs she took in a trial. If this was a cartoon, Kyle’s eyes would be big green dollar signs. Might he be sniffing out a lawsuit?
6. Kit promises to stay by Brett’s side.

Christopher B. Duncan drops in this week to play the role of Brett Slater, Kit’s former husband and the father of her children. They have a charming interplay between them. Even though Kit may have broken his heart, they clearly still care deeply for one another. I don’t see how Bell can compete with it.
Brett’s medical troubles take a turn for the worse and Kit is left, as his power of attorney, to make the tough call about proceeding with is surgery. Ultimately, she makes the right choice and he recovers. “You’ve died and gone to hell, darling.” She muses upon his awakening. Who can compete with that kind of charm?
