The Resident and 9-1-1 renewed for third seasons by FOX
FOX has delivered double the good news ahead of new episodes tonight. The Resident and 9-1-1 have both landed third seasons.
In case you were worried about The Resident or 9-1-1‘s fates, worry no longer. FOX has offered double good news ahead of new episodes. Both shows have landed third seasons at the network.
While 9-1-1 was never really in trouble, there were some doubts about The Resident with some recent slips. However, both shows have continually been strong performers for FOX and, in hindsight, neither renewal is all that surprising.

Both shows have compelling characters and intense storylines. The Resident isn’t afraid to be as realistic as possible about running a hospital. While its NBC counterpart, New Amsterdem, focuses on the public hospital, The Resident is all about money — and it has unapologetically shown that side of hospitals from the very beginning.
As much as we scream and shout at the financial side and how health care should be a right (not a privilege), we can’t help but tune in. Recently, we’ve been waiting to see all about the QuoVardis fall out and what we thought was it coming to a head was anything but! Tonight’s new episode promises to be one of the most dramatic ever.
Meanwhile, 9-1-1 routinely raises the bar, putting the focus on some of the most courageous and outrageous saves the first responders have to make. This is a series that puts the focus on the danger the men and women of the fire department, police, and more face every day. We get to see the actions of the dispatchers, who really just have to sit and hope that the calls they hear have turned out to be good saves.
Both shows will more than likely remain as fall shows. 9-1-1 remains as the number one show in the total audience and number two in the demo just behind Empire. Meanwhile, The Resident the fourth best drama and eighth best show in the demo, and sits in second place among dramas and third place among all shows in the total audience (behind 9-1-1 and Last Man Standing).
