Shadowhunters Season 3, Episode 18 review: The Beast Within
A major demon outbreak on Halloween complicates several missions and decisions on tonight’s game-changing episode of @ShadowhuntersTV. Here’s what you need to know (spoiler-free) about #Shadowhunters Season 3, Episode 18.
On this week’s episode, “The Beast Within,” a major demon outbreak in New York City on Halloween night becomes a top priority at the Institute for Alec and the team, but as they all work in the field to find what caused the outbreak, Jace is going to have reason to be even more worried about Clary. Alec, who is juggling multiple responsibilities at work and in his personal life, is deeply concerned about Magnus’ depression and identity crises, and will look to do everything in his power to help Magnus get his magic back.
We learned that the hidden program at The Clave, run by Aldertree (yuck) was actually using a solution made with pieces of Heavenly Fire to turn Downworlder prisoners into mundanes, but thanks to Simon, Raphael and Helen, the inside team was able to recover the vials — something Isabelle plans to use to help separate Jonathan from Clary.

Having been healed of silver poisoning, this Halloween-themed episode will also find Maia back to work at Hunter’s Moon, and Luke will visit Clary at the Institute after having been released from prison thanks to the Praetor (though we’re still suspicious of the whole arrangement).
Becky Lewis is also in town to celebrate Halloween with her brother, and her genuine interest in the Shadow World is refreshing and especially entertaining.
The ShadowFam is on high alert after last week’s heartbreaking chain of events and a released episode trailer for Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 18 that proposes a terrifying ultimatum for Alec.
