10 TV shows and movies to watch on Netflix in May
By Sandy C.
Chambers
Let’s kick things off with mystery. Chambers is actually not a May release, it was released on April 26. I feel that with such a busy weekend of Avengers: Endgame and Game of Thrones, though, Netflix programming may have been overlooked. Chambers is not a show you want to miss!
The series follows a young woman who, after a heart attack, receives a heart transplant. Everything is successful, until mystery and a hidden sense of evil begins to surround where the heart comes from and who that person was. Release date: April 26
Dead to Me
If watching Chambers has you down, check out Dead to Me, starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini. If you still want a kick of mystery, don’t worry, there’s some of that, but also laughs, think dark humor.
Dead to Me follows Jen, a recent widow determined to find the person who murdered her husband in a hit-and-run tragedy. Judy (Cardellini) has also recently lost someone close to her. The two women begin to bond, mourn together, and learn more than they wanted to about each other. Release date: May 3
Lucifer
Lucifer has been through hell and back, er– literally and figuratively here. The series premiered on Fox and remained there for three seasons before the network cancelled it. Fans rioted and Netflix listened, here to save the day and give the devil another chance!
More from Netflix
- Bridgerton season 3: All the details to know about Penelope and Colin’s love story
- It’s a slow week on Netflix with only three new releases (Nov. 20)
- Exploding Kittens: From card game to Netflix animated series starring Tom Ellis
- The Crown and more Netflix shows and movies to stream this week (November 13)
- Escaping Twin Flames and more harrowing love-centered documentaries to watch on Netflix
This isn’t the first time the streaming giant rescues a chopped series, it recently did so with You and will hopefully come to The Imposters rescue soon, as well. In the meantime, let’s celebrate the return of Lucifer. Season 4 premieres May 8.
Easy
Easy debuts its third season here shortly, but the series is a bit underrated, if you ask me. Not Many are aware of what they are missing. The anthology series a group of diverse characters as they deal with modern issues that include sex, technology, and culture. Season 3 consists of 8 episodes and stars Orlando Bloom, Jake Johnson, Dave Franco, Aya Cash, Hannibal Buress, and others. Release date: May 10.
When They See Us
Netflix’s When They See Us is what audiences will be talking about this month. This is a short, limited series consisting of four episodes and is incredible star studded. The cast includes Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Michael K. Williams, Vera Farmiga, Felicity Huffman, Niecy Nash, Storm Reid, and others. When They See Us is based on the true story of the Central Park Five in 1989. Five teens of color were convicted of a rape they didn’t commit. Release date: May 31.
