The summer months aren’t easy for TV fans. All the fall shows are on hiatus. This is a great chance to binge-watch other TV shows you’ve previously missed and A Place to Call Home is a must.

There are so many TV shows out there. Whether it’s British drama, older U.S. dramas and comedies, or even foreign language shows, there’s something for all. The summer is the perfect time to binge-watch programs you’ve previously missed and you need to put A Place to Call Home on your list.

The great news is binge-watching is easy. You can catch all six seasons on Acorn TV. There are plenty of stars you’ll recognize and others that will be a little newer to you if you don’t watch many Australian dramas, which actually makes the show more enjoyable — you don’t spend hours wondering where you recognize an actor from to distract you from the show!

Set in 1953 Australia, to begin with, A Place to Call Home isn’t afraid to touch on some difficult subject matter and focus on the realities of the time. Here are five reasons you’ll definitely need to binge-watch the series this summer.

5. There are 67 episodes to watch

While you want to watch a long-ish show during the summer, you don’t want something too long. At first, six seasons can seem like a lot of episodes. For a standard U.S. fall show, we’re looking at 132 episodes.

A Place to Call Home is shorter — about half the length of a standard U.S. fall drama. The longest season is the first with 13 episodes. After that, the seasons are 10 episodes each, which means the storylines are more contained and to the point. It doesn’t take too long to get to the bottom of storylines — and there are plenty you’ll want to get to the bottom of.

With 67 episodes, you can watch one or two episodes a night and you’ll take up the majority of your summer. I can guarantee though that you won’t stop at one or two episodes a night. I tend to binge-watch three or four episodes depending on when I start watching!
