BH90210 Episode 1 preview: The gang reunites for the reboot of a lifetime

Are you ready to head back to Beverly Hills? The ’90s pop culture phenomenon Beverly Hills, 90210 returns with a brand-new reboot, but there’s a meta twist this time around. Rather than reprising their iconic roles that made them famous, the cast of the teen drama reunites in BH90210 as heightened versions of themselves who come together to kick-start a reboot of the beloved TV series. Get it? Reboot culture is the in-joke for the 90210 crew.

Of course, diehard fans might find the premise of BH90210 confusing, or perhaps they expected to catch up with Brandon, Brenda, Kelly, Donna, and the whole crew. While the series still might feature the cast in character, the characters they will chiefly be playing is themselves. However, it’s a fictionalized world with fictionalized spouses, children, and circumstances following the almost 20 years that have passed since the end of Beverly Hills, 90210.

In the premiere episode of BH90210, Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth ignite the concept of a reboot of their hit series after reuniting with the whole cast at a fan convention. But corralling Jason Priestley, Shannen Doherty, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green, and Ian Ziering into a new edition of 90210 will prove to be the dramatic reboot worth watching.

Still, how often will we get to see the cast playing their iconic characters? Where would those characters be today? What commentary will the series provide on reboots, aging, stardom, and the gang’s long history together? And most importantly, how will BH90210 honor Luke Perry?

When, where, and how can you catch the reboot even of the summer? For starters, the six-episode first season of BH90210 will air exclusively on FOX and each episode will stream on FOX’s digital platform FOX NOW thereafter.

Fans will also be able to stream the new series on Hulu following the episodes’ televised airings. (You can binge-watch the original series on Hulu, too.)
