Like the previous season, there are some supernatural elements. The show delves into Japanese mythology, which is certainly full of intriguing mystical spirits. However, it’s not the supernatural that will make you terrified during this season. It’s all about the horrors during the aftermath of Pearl Harbor.

Derek Mio, Lee Shorten, George Takei (who partially grew up in internment camps!), and many others step into the roles of Japanese Americans, rounded up and sent to internment camps. After all, the United States wanted to prevent the risk of some of them joining the Japanese cause after the attacks on Pearl Harbor. An excuse? Not at all. It was horrifying what happened to these men, women, and children, which is something the series will delve into.
The episode is titled “Infamy: A Sparrow in a Swallow’s Nest,” and focuses on Chester Nakayama, who finds himself caught between life on Terminal Island and his all-American life. He and his family and friends are pushed to the brink in the internment camp, proving that they’re good U.S. citizens, while something lurks in the shadows around them.

This season couldn’t be all the more necessary. Not only will it tell a story of a part of the war we don’t see much on U.S. television, but it will deliver something needed for today’s political climate. At the same time, the supernatural elements try to add some fictional lightness to the horror series.
