The Winchester brothers came face to face with Eve and Dean got to name a monster in Supernatural Season 6, Episode 19. Here’s a look at the events.

During Supernatural Season 6, Episode 19, the Winchesters finally faced Eve. It certainly wasn’t the meeting they expected. However, there was a highlight for Dean, as he got to name a monster.

It’s time to delve into “Mommy Dearest,” as we continue to get through Hellatus. Here’s a look at everything that happened in this throwback recap.

Eve shows off her powers

Up to this point, we hadn’t really got to see much of Eve’s powers. That all changed in Episode 19. The open gave us that look at how monsters are created. All she does is touch people’s faces and turns them into the monster she wants. In this case, it’s a hybrid monster, later referred to as Jefferson Starships.

Eve just watched in the diner as a feeding frenzy happens. She’s not worried about hunters showing up.

The Winchesters get help from an unlikely frenemy

More from Supernatural

We get a blast from the past during this episode. When Castiel explains that Eve has hidden herself from angels, the Winchesters call on an old frenemy, the vampire Lenore.

Eve has been raising a call to arms. No monster can avoid it, and Lenore shows that she’s struggling to live her vampire-vegan ways. She doesn’t want to murder again, so asked to be killed. Naturally, the Winchesters don’t want to since she’s proven that she’s a “good” vampire, but Castiel kills her once she gives up Eve’s location.

It’s not going to be a surprise, though. Eve knows the Winchesters are on their way.

When in the town Eve is at, Castiel realizes that he can’t use his powers and it’s likely due to Eve. The Winchesters deal with this as any normal hunt, finding out about Ed Bright, who was one of those turned into monsters by Eve. When the Winchesters find him dead and then a roomful of dead bodies that look like Ed, the Winchesters assume they’re dealing with some sort of shapeshifter.

If that was only what they ere dealing with. One of the “shapeshifters” is still alive and tells the Winchesters and Cass about the “woman in white,” and not a vengeful spirit. This has to be Eve.

At a bar, the Winchesters and Bobby find more monsters. This time they’re hybrid monsters—the Jefferson Starships, as Dean calls them—and Bobby states that they all seemed to die of a fever. Suddenly, the police show up and arrest Sam, Bobby, and Castiel, while Dean hides.

Dealing with the current situation

It’s not an easy episode for the hunters. Sam realizes that the police officers are all Jefferson Starships and fights back. Fortunately, Dean followed them and arrives in time to help out. Only one of the officers is kept alive for questioning.

While Castiel interrogates the Jefferson Starship, the Winchesters find two orphaned boys, who pass the usual monster tests. It looks like they’re fine. There’s not much time to think about this, as Castiel finds out where Eve is and he, the Winchesters, and Bobby head to the diner, with only the Winchesters stepping inside.

It’s all a trap. Eve has the place covered in monsters, ready to take out the hunters. She even transforms into Mary Winchester, making it harder for the Winchesters to hear all about Eve’s plan.

You can blame Crowley

Eve just wanted balance between humans and her children. It was all fine until Crowley kidnapped and imprisoned her children. She had to rise up and restore the balance while getting revenge. Everything she did was because of a “mother’s love.”

Dean tells her that Crowley has already been dealt with, but that isn’t the case. Crowley is definitely alive and in hiding. He’s also carrying out a search in Purgatory for the souls in there. She never reveals why Crowley needs the souls, but that he’s still around. Now Eve wants to turn the whole world into monsters, but many of her earlier experiments have died prematurely.

This is where the two orphans come into play. She’s managed to perfect a monster in one of the kids, and he can spread it around the world. However, she does offer the Winchesters a chance to be saved if they help her catch Crowley.

Dean refuses to work with Eve. She bites him, only to stagger back in pain. Dean had ingested some of the phoenix ash. Eve dies and Castiel finally has full powers. He and Bobby, now in the diner, are able to fight against the monsters, along with the Winchesters. Castiel uses his powers to kill all the monsters at once and then gets the Winchesters to the house they took the boys. Sadly, the boys had killed their uncle and are also both dead, with traces of sulfur left behind.

Can Team Free Will trust Castiel?

Finally, Dean tells Castiel about Crowley being alive. Castiel doesn’t initially want to believe it, but then decides to look into it and disappears. Dean refuses to believe that Castiel has something to do with it, but Sam and Bobby are sure that Cass is up to something.

Sure enough, we finally learn the truth. Back at the diner, Castiel and Crowley meet. Crowley was the one cleaning up the mess and he isn’t impressed, but it’s clear the two are working together.
