There’s no hiding the major spoiler from the NCIS Season 16 finale. The NCIS Season 17 trailer is out, and it’s all about Ziva’s return.

The final minutes of NCIS Season 16 gave us something we’d been waiting years for. Ziva returned, and it was all to save Gibbs. She’ll be in at least three episodes of the new season, but there’s always the possibility she’ll be around for more. One thing is for certain: the NCIS Season 17 trailer is all about her.

In the trailer, she finally explains why she faked her death and why she’s back. There’s a woman after her and that woman has now turned to attack Gibbs. There’s no way that Ziva would put Gibbs’ life on the line for hers, so she’s out to protect him. And now that Gibbs knows that Ziva is alive, he’s not letting her out of his sight.

However, it’s not just Gibbs who learns that the former team member is alive. Bishop already knew the truth, and now she’s going to share it with the rest of the group. Torres is shocked, but that’s not all that surprising. He was introduced post-Ziva and only being shocked is understandable.

Palmer and McGee have the best reactions. When Palmer learns the truth, he needs to sit down. This was someone he trusted and respected, and now he’s trying to deal with the big reveal.

As for McGee, he’s understandably angry at Bishop. Ziva was like a sister to him. They were friend and he grieved for her. Not only does he learn that she faked her death—which he’ll probably accept why when he learns the truth—but that Bishop knew and didn’t tell him. It’s the latter that breaks the trust and respect, even if it was to protect Ziva.
