How many times have you watched the Supernatural Season 15 promo to break it down? That’s what we’ve been doing for these five major takeaways.

Be honest. You’ve now watched the Supernatural Season 15 promo a million times to break it down. You just want to see any hint of what to expect throughout the final season. (I know, I hate being reminded it’s the last season, too.)

I’ve been right there with you breaking down this promo. There is so much to takeaway and I certainly have plenty of questions. Before I even get into the questions and my thoughts for the upcoming season, I’m breaking down the events throughout the promo. There’s not too much to go on (and this is likely the first episode—may e the second) but there’s something.

If you’ve been following SPN Hunters for a while, you know I break down each of the promos. I share my thoughts about what certain lines or moments could mean for episodes. First, I’ll let you watch the Supernatural Season 15 promo again:

Okay, there aren’t technically any spoilers in this post. All I’m sharing is what we’ve seen in the video. But I know some people can claim I’m sharing spoilers (honestly, they have done in the past!) so I’m putting out this warning in case you think talking anything from the promo is a spoiler!

Let’s get into the takeaways.

5. The leaking eyes

More from Supernatural

At the 5s mark, you’ll see a man walking past two others. Yes, this guy is going to be a talking point, but that’s not the big takeaway right now. It’s the two standing either side of him. Have you noticed the black coming from their eyes?

We’ve seen black pouring out of eyes in the past. Which monsters are back in the world of Supernatural? Is this a hint that The Darkness is back? Or could this be something new?

4. Team Free Will manages to escape

Sam, Dean, and Castiel were left in Supernatural Season 14 surrounding by zombies. It’s clear from the images that there’s going to be a fight, but somehow the group gets away. Right at the start of the promo, we see the three in a crypt, allowing Dean to catch them up on the “welcome to the end” speech from Chuck.

Just how do they manage to escape? I’m assuming they spot a gap in between the zombies and manage to get into a crypt just for now. There is a snippet later in the promo that shows a zombie breaking through a wall, so that crypt may not be as safe as they hope.

3. Memories of the past

During the final episode of Season 14, we saw the Woman in White, Bloody Mary, and the clown (I’m assuming is supposed to be John Wayne Gacy and not the other clowns that have shown up in the series). They’re back in the promo for Season 15. It looks like the three will be taken care of relatively quickly since all three are in the same promo.

Of course, this could just be the start of something bigger. As the brothers point out, if the Woman in White is back then all the others are back. This is going to be a ride of a lifetime.

2. Why are so many on the ground?

Go to the 14s mark in the trailer. You can just about see Castiel stepping out of what looks like a crypt—probably the crypt they’re in when Dean’s mentioning “the end”—and there are a lot of bodies scattered on the ground. They’re not moving, but why is that?

It gives me some Game of Thrones vibes, if I’m honest, seeing all these zombies on the ground. Is it possible that God is bored with his current attack on the Winchesters? Or will someone or something help to send the multiple souls back to Hell?

1. Only Dean and Sam against everything?

You can’t miss that moment at the end. Dean points out that it’s just the two of them against every soul in Hell. Why just the two of them?

We know that Castiel and Dean aren’t exactly seeing eye-to-eye right now, but would Castiel really just walk away? Does this suggest that there’s something going on in Heaven or that Castiel is focused on getting Jack back? Or it could be a sign that something has happened to Cass.

Whatever the reason, it’s the Winchesters against the world, just like it started. And they have work to do.
