4. Book Club

Keeping with the Hulu theme, this next one is another one you can stream on Hulu. Unlike A Simple Favor, this is more in the realm of a normal girls night movie. Released in 2018, Book Club puts the spotlight on the ladies and this time, it’s not who you’d normally think. The film centers about 4 older women and their lives along with the book club that the four of them have together.

Featuring an all-star cast including Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen, Book Club is an idea of who we all want to be. We all hope that we’ll stay best friends with the people we have in our lives now. On-screen, their friendship seems so realistic and organic that it’s hard to believe that they’re not best friends in real life.

What truly makes the film great for girls night though is how funny it is. For one of their book club picks, the ladies decided to read the Fifty Shades of Grey series and it’s hilarious. Watching how they react to the book will make anyone chuckle.

The humor doesn’t just come from what they read as their lives are pretty hilarious, too. The film isn’t racy but doesn’t mean going the next mile for some of its jokes.

Overall, Book Club is a great one, especially if you and your friends like The Golden Girls. It’s not a carbon copy but the two share a lot of similar traits. It might not be your first choice for a girls night movie but it’s certainly worth checking out.
