Diona Reasonover returns to NCIS Season 17 as Kasie. She discusses what we can expect for the character coming up in the next episodes!

While Ziva’s return to NCIS was a major storyline for the first two episodes of Season 17, things are moving forward. Kasie continues to control the lab, offering crucial evidence to the team when everyone needs something and being a sounding board for some. Diona Reasonover continues to play the character with style.

She sat down with Hidden Remote to talk to us about Kasie in the coming episodes, including an episode that is focused on the character. We also got to chat a little about Kasie’s reaction about Ziva being alive and around the team.

More from CBS

Are you ready for more Kasie in NCIS Season 17? Here’s a look at what she had to tell us.

Hidden Remote: I’ve loved Kasie from day one. Over last season, we got to see her really get to know the team. This season, she already seems a little more settled in. What’s it been like for you?

Diona Reasonover: It’s cool! You know, it’s like the first time you go to high school, you walk in and you’re like ‘I’m so nervous. Everybody is much bigger than me and I’ll never reason my locker.’ When you’re a sophomore, you’re like ‘I run this.’ We feel more confident and excited.

This year, I started getting fan mail. I have a big bag of fan mail. There were only three letters in it and one was just written ‘Dear, Celebrity,’ but celebrity with a capital C.

HR: You’re on the way up! So, now you’ve had a chance to be on screen with all the different main characters and the bonds are growing. Is there anyone you haven’t really had enough time with?

Reasonover: It would be cool to have more time with Jack. She’s a powerhouse! I’d love a couple of scenes where I like come into interrogation and give her some info. But I’d also like a girl’s night, just Jack, Kasie, and Bishop!

HR: I could see those personalities working really well together on a night out. But no work talk.

Reasonover: Oh yeah! No work talk.

HR: For fans, it’s all been about Ziva returning. What’s that been like for you to have a former cast member suddenly turn up?

Reasonover: I hate to use the word, but it’s been pretty epic. It’s cool because when I’m on Twitter, I see a lot of fans saying ‘Bring back Ziva.’ I think it’s smart of a show to respond to what the fans are asking for. I hope that it gives people a satisfied feeling.

HR: I love that they’ve had the story first and then brought Cote back.

Reasonover: Yes, there’s definitely a story. I never got to interact with Cote, though. Our time didn’t allow it, but she is amazing. It’s all very incredible.

It also brought some new energy. The scene between Gibbs and Ziva where they were arguing about what you would do to get your daughter back and Ziva was talking about her. That was such a good thing, a different dynamic.

I loved watching that off-camera. Everyone could see my mouth hit the floor.

HR: Kasie found out that Ziva was alive. Her reaction was so different to everyone else, especially when she would have read so much about Ziva in Ducky’s memoirs. It was so fun to see.

Reasonover: It wasn’t the same for Kasie compared to the rest of the team with this secret. They were in the middle of some pretty big stuff. I couldn’t wait for everyone to see her reaction.

HR: Every season, NCIS brings a character-focused episode for each main character. Last season, we got to learn a little more about Kasie’s backstory. Will we get to learn more this season? Can you tease anything?

Reasonover: Oh yeah, we’re getting that! It’s very cool. I can’t believe they wrote the episode and they nailed it. David North wrote the episode and it’s coming out in early November. Nov. 6, I think.

You know, I can’t stand knowing something that others don’t. When I was a kid, I would ruin almost every picture at Christmas because I would start crying. I couldn’t stand knowing what I got my parents and not telling them. I’m a little bit like that right now.

You’ll get to meet an old friend of Kasie’s and see her personal life and workplace collide. I think it’s so interesting. This isn’t like what happened last time. The person is actually here and Kasie has to deal with these memories in a big way in the middle of work. I think it’s so exciting.

HR: What do you hope for Kasie this season?

Reasonover: That’s a really good question. I think between her first season and this season, she’s got much more comfortable in her job. You get to see her reactions to things and it’s not just the initial fear of like, ‘Oh, gosh, I’m new here!’

This season I’d like to see Kasie outside of work, you know? I think when you get a chance to see people in their personal lives, it really informs the way they react in the rest of their life. We’re definitely going to get to see some of that in the November episode.
