Supernatural’s fifteenth season brought back several spirits from Hell and a few new ones. How will these demonic characters factor into the final season?

In the Supernatural season 15 premiere, audiences get to meet a new version of Jack (Alexander Calvert). His Nephilim counterpart was burned out of existence by Chuck (Rob Benedict) in the season 14 finale but now there’s a demon possessing Jack’s empty vessel.

Belphegor, the demon who takes possession of his body, fills Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) in on Hell’s current events. He explains to them that whatever Chuck did, he put their world in a maelstrom. It also opened up every door, including the one to Michael’s cage.

When Sam and Dean learn of Hell’s fate, they become immediately concerned that another archangel is running about. Belphegor reassures the Winchesters that their half-brother didn’t budge when the doors opened, but there’s no way to confirm what he’s saying.

Regardless, confirmation won’t be necessary if things pan out the way we expect them to. The reason is Belphegor has been lying his face off. He’s definitely a demon from Hell but he’s not the lowly employee that he portrays himself to be.

More from Supernatural

For those unfamiliar, Belphegor is the demonic name belonging to one of the Princes of Hell. He’s also known for seducing unsuspecting victims with temptations that hold no weight. Supernatural’s depiction of the demon tie-in closely since Belphagor is offering his assistance to Sam and Dean. The only difference is that he hasn’t identified himself as a Prince of Hell.

While Belphegor is playing coy, it’s only a matter of time before his identity as a Prince of Hell comes out. A few of his brethren have made sparse appearances in the past but Supernatural fans haven’t met them all. Because of that, there’s a good chance Belphegor’s identity won’t remain hidden for much longer.

Once that information is out in the open, the Winchesters will have to put him down. The problem is Belphegor knows quite a few spells and can probably access the dormant powers in Jack’s body,. If that were to happen, they might be overwhelmed by Belphegor. He’s already proven his usefulness in casting out demonic spirits with on-hand knowledge. Imagine what he could do with Jack’s power at his disposal.
