Supernatural fall 2019 mystery crate: Unboxing and reviewing the Crowley box

Fall’s theme was Crowley and Deanmon. As usual, there was more than $120 in value, with a total of eight items in the box. As I follow the spoilers, I knew that the Crowley plush doll and the beer mug would be included, but I was happy with the rest of the items.

Usually, I do a good, bad, and mediocre review. I’ll be honest and say there was nothing terrible in this box. It was on point for the theme, and there were plenty of usable items. So, I’m going to do this review a little differently.

T-shirt and plush doll

The T-shirt is a standard item but the print was certainly interesting. It brought more of a poster theme to it, as if the Winchesters were a brand. After all, “Winchester Bros.” does sound like it should be a brand.

There was plenty of thought put into making this look more like a business. The bullet points that would be used as selling points brought some of the most popular creatures and monsters the brothers have faced. Of course, the “Rock Salt” is the item on sale, because that’s what the two are known for.

The only downside to the T-shirt is that it didn’t quite fit the theme. But I can overlook that for the detail. Plus, CultureFly T-shirts are always comfortable and well-made. I’ve not had an issue yet of prints wearing off and I have a lot of these T-shirts.

As for the plush doll, well. I’d guessed this was coming. Even before the spoiler, I assumed Crowley would be next. We’d already had Castiel and Dean, and for some reason, Sam is often left to last. It seemed fitting for it to be Crowley with a Halloween crate.

The doll is made as well as the others. He sits proudly with Dean and Castiel on my shelf. Sam will join next crate, I’m sure of it!

Poster and decal

My least two favorite items come up next. The decal looks like something just thrown in to make up the numbers if I’m honest. It doesn’t match the theme of the crate, and I’m really not sure where I’ll use it. I guess I could stick it to my laptop, but I already have some Supernatural stickers there to work with Legend of Zelda and Game of Thrones. Yeah, I’m a geek!

I will admit that the poster is much better than previous ones. We’ve had a lot of key art images, so I’m really glad that CultureFly has taken onboard some of the constructive feedback and offered something unique.

This poster is intriguing. The more I look at it, the more I see something new. I love that it’s the two sides of Dean with Castiel and Crowley either side. However, I wish Sam could have fit somewhere in there.

I do feel like CultureFly, and Supernatural as a whole, can often overlook Sam Winchester. I really hope the next box has more focused on him.

Sleeping mask and the Mark of Cain

Next up are two of my favorite items. CultureFly did a charm bracelet a while ago and since then there’s been a new charm in each box. The Mark of Cain suits this box, and I love the vibrancy of the red. All other charms have been plain metal, so adding some color will help make this one stand out.

I don’t use my charms on a bracelet. I can’t deal with something around my wrist, especially when I’m typing. Instead, I have a necklace that has all the chains on.

As for the sleeping mask, this will be extremely useful when I’m traveling on a plane; not that I ever have trouble sleeping on a plane! It will also be useful if I need to sleep during the day for any reason.

I love that it’s part of the poster brought to the mask. It adds another layer to that poster inclusion, while also giving us a set of demon eyes while we sleep!

Like the T-shirt, the material for the mask is soft and comfortable. I haven’t tested the durability of it yet, but one thing CultureFly can do is good fabric material.

Baseball cap and beer mug

The beer mug was one of the spoiler items. It was something that I worried about as soon as I saw it as an item. Once I got it, I knew there was a reason to be worried.

One of the biggest downfalls in quality from CultureFly is the stickers on glassware. The stickers come off so easily in the wash; and I only handwash! We once got a pint glass with the anti-possession symbol as a sticker. It lasted two washes before the sticker came off completely. Stickers on glassware from other CultureFly mystery crates have also worn off.

So, I’m worried about using the glass. If I don’t use it, it’s a pointless part of the Supernatural fall 2019 mystery crate. If I do use it, the sticker will likely wear off very soon.

But to make up for the worries, the baseball cap is great. The material is soft and the detail on the front is cute. Most of all, the cap actually fits!

An issue I’ve had with the caps in the past is that the top is always too big. It sits too high for my head, as if I would have a top-knot or something similar. This cap actually shapes around my head. Come the summer, it’s definitely one I’ll be wearing.

Overall, I give this crate a 7 out of 10.
